ELECTRICITY THEFT- COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

Objective:

In the electric board power theft identifier system, we will be having two IR sensors
which are fixed to the energy meter. One energy meter will be available in the main line and the other one
will be in the industry. We are going to monitor this through wireless communication networks.

Scope:

We can identify the power theft and it’s automatically intimated to electricity board,
where the control actions are made.

Description:

We have to place the two IR sensors in these two energy meters. The current reading of the main
line will be sensed by IR sensor EB line unit and the current reading of the industry will be sensed by the
IR sensor which is fixed to the energy meter in industry side.

How much units the current get consumed in industry side will be seen through the display. The
EB line value will be viewed in the EB line unit. And the value sensed in the main EB line will be sent to
the industry side unit for compression.

The sensed output signal is given to the signal conditioning circuit and then to microcontroller.
Now the microcontroller compares both these signals .If both the signal values are equal then there is no
power theft is detected. If not the microcontroller detects there is a power theft and send a signal to alarm
for identification and also give message to the corresponding authority through mobile connected at the
microcontroller end. At the same time power line will be cutoff via relay driver circuit.

This helps us to identify whether power consumption in the main line and the industry supply
gets deviated. By this we can detect the power theft.
