Preface
This document provides the details on performing a Day 0 Image restoration operation for the
C16, C17, and C18 RemoteWatch Servers. The tasks included in this guide are performed during
the RemoteWatch Server manufacturing process (that is, loading of software) or at the customers'
site after the restoration of a Day 0 Image. If the RemoteWatch Server has just been received at a
customer's site, this process DOES NOT need to be performed as it was already completed dur-
ing the manufacturing process.

Glossary of Terms
The following terminology, used throughout this user’s guide, relates to the RemoteWatch Server
Version 3.0 software and associated equipment.
RemoteWatch The RemoteWatch Server is the central point of control for the Remote-
Server Watch system at your site. The RemoteWatch Server collects data from an
I/A Series system, which are then historized and transferred to the Inven-
sys Global Customer Support Center where RemoteWatch engineers can
monitor the health of the system.
The RemoteWatch Server also provides a connection between Invensys
and your site that allows Invensys experts to remotely view and trouble-
shoot issues from the Invensys Global Customer Support Center. Using
the remote connection, it is possible navigate through an I/A Series system
to determine and fix the source of the problem and before it is allowed to
escalate.

1. Preparing the RemoteWatch
Server Operating System
This chapter describes the installation requirements for the RemoteWatch Server Operating
System, and explains how to configure and activate the system for RemoteWatch
communications at the customer site.
Installation Requirements
For proper installation, the following information is required:
The network name of the RemoteWatch Server. The name is {site-three-character-
code} and PRF, where {site-three-character-code} is replaced with the site's Remote
Plus three-character code. The site code is obtained from the Invensys Global Cus-
tomer Support Center. For example, if a site's three-letter-code is CSC, the server
name is CSCPRF.
The time zone of your site
Part No. CG500DV, the Microsoft SQL Server® 2008 install media and license
NextNine® license.dat and site_details.txt files, obtained from Global Customer
Support.
(Optional) Part No. K0173TQ and K0173WT, the install media for the I/A Series
Electronic User documentation.
Part No. CG500EP, the RemoteWatch Day 0 Update CD.

Appendix A. Restoring a Day 0
Image
This appendix describes how to restore a Day 0 image on the C16, C17, or C18 RemoteWatch
Server.
To restore a Day 0 image on the C16, C17, or C18 RemoteWatch Server, proceed as follows:
1. Insert the RemoteWatch Restore Boot Disk CD (CG500DT) into the CD drive.
2. Reboot the server.
3. At the server boot screen, press F11 to enter the BIOS Boot Manager screen.
4. At the BIOS Boot Manager screen, select to boot from the SATA Optical Drive. The
Boot Disk takes a few minutes to load and then place you at a command prompt
(root@sysresccd /root %).
5. Remove the CG500DT CD from the CD drive and insert the RemoteWatch Day 0
Image DVD (CG500DU for the C16, CG500ED for the C17, or CG500EN for the
C18).
6. At the command prompt, enter the following command: /restore-day0-image.
NOTE
If you try to run the restore script before putting CG500DU into the CD drive, it
will fail to find the correct file and you will not be able to open the CD drive. If this
happens, you need to unmount the CD by typing umount /mnt/cdrom and then
continue from Step 5.
7. The image unpacks and copies itself onto the server. This command takes about an
hour to complete. When the command has finished, restart the server with the follow-
ing command: reboot now.
