November 16, 2010

Greetings!

We are cordially inviting you to the first ever Ateneo National Environmental Conference
entitled ANECON 2010: Building a League of Environmental Youth Leaders, Engaging Upon
the Threats of Climate Change to be held at the Ateneo de Manila University Loyola
Schools, Quezon City from December 10 to 12, 2010.

Organized by the Sanggunian ng mga Mag-aaral ng mga Paaralang Loyola ng Ateneo de

Manila, the ANECON is a three-day convention on climate change that targets student
leaders involved in environmental initiatives or student council members from various
colleges and universities around the Philippines. The conference would entail interaction
between experts and participants, team building and outdoor activities, workshops,
presentations, and resolution building in the hopes of promoting greater environmental
awareness.

2009 was a year when we witnessed the radical effects and impacts of climate change on
our environment. The Philippines was no exception to this phenomenon. The Ateneo de
Manila University, together with all its units and the student body, acknowledges the
challenge to bring about positive changes in protecting and conserving our environment and
natural resources.

The Ateneo National Environmental Conference (ANECON) is envisioned to promote

awareness of the various consequences posed by climate change and to integrate
theoretical foundations and practical solutions into the role of the Filipino youth in
addressing issues regarding climate change. ANECON is guided by a unique tripartite
framework that seeks to respond to the pressing issues at various levels. We call this
framework the “Global-Local-Personal Nexus.”

Your presence in this conference will greatly contribute to our thrust to promote awareness
of the various consequences posed by climate change and to integrate theoretical
foundations and practical solutions into the role of the Filipino youth in addressing issues
regarding climate change.

The conference fee is as follows:

- Private University/College Students (Metro Manila) P1200

The said amount would be collected upon arrival in the Ateneo de Manila University. This
