& THE ESSENCE OF LIFE
(KJV): Gen: 1. “In the beginning God created the heavens
and the earth.” The Heavens here may simply mean the
Universe, and the Earth the special globe He made for us to live
in. 2. “The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was
on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering
over the face of the waters.” Then the Spirit of God was
hovering over the Water watching the Earth. There was
Darkness in the Deep (The core of the earth), and Water on the
Surface (These are the two major elements out of which all
things were formed from). Then from the first one he created a
Light which was the opposite the Darkness, and from the
second one He created Land (Earth) which was the opposite of
Water.
It may also be of interest that the Spirit of God was
hovering over the Waters. It is as if He has a special interest in
Water which was the same element said to be used in the first
alleged destruction of the world. This same element is a home
for water‐demons and many other beings labeled as evil. Also,
the mighty biblical behemoth which no man could conquer
lived in water. While most occult traditions teach us about four
elements; Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. It is as if God is rather
interested in two categories of elements; the material elements
and the non‐material elements. Water and Earth are the
material elements, while Light and Darkness are the non
material elements.
All the creatures on earth are made from the material
elements and those in the heavens from the non‐material
elements (Angels of Light and Angels of Darkness as they are
called in some religions). When the creatures of the air were
created it was done in this manner: Gen 20‐ “…and let birds fly
above the earth across the face of the firmament of the
heavens” The word ‘firmament’ is very old and its origin is
extremely old but in this case, it is regarded as the sky. The sky
gives us a view of the heavens. But more interestingly nothing
rests or sleeps in the sky. Creatures of the air make nests on
trees and some even on the ground. This clearly tells us that air
will be more properly defined as a medium of life.
All creatures are made of earth, thus they die as long as
they still live in the substance from which they are created
from. If we observe carefully, it is clear that a creature not of
the earth cannot die naturally on earth. That’s why we are
temporary because we are born of the earth. Those who have
truly found the way to true immortality (not invincibility) have
only found the way of assuming a new body, because our
essence which is God’s image itself is eternal because its
Creator is eternal. Even those who claim to be invincible always
have an ‘Achilles heel’.
Air can be seen as the element through which everything
in the universe is connected. Thus it is an element which is part
of the earth but not of the earth. Fire is also a very interesting
element for it is made from the combination of earthly
products (wood) and air (oxygen). Therefore it may be regarded
as one of the four elements of the earth. Metal cannot be
called an element because it is included in the Earth itself. The
only thing not from the Earth is Water, Light and Darkness,
which are also not from each other. Thus we can say that the
earth has four basic elements on its own; Fire, Earth itself, and
two other elements which have not been discovered yet. I say
four because four symbolizes completeness in numerology. It is
also the most sacred number of the Pythagoreans on which
they swore upon. It is also symbolizes completeness in the
Bible. If you read Daniel, Ezekiel and Revelations, you can
confirm the use in the most important creations. Revelations
talks about ‘the four winds’, ‘the four Elders’, etc. Ezekiel talks
about a man looking like four living creatures, having four faces,
four wings etc. Anyone who can master these elements has
mastered Good (or Light) and Evil (Darkness) and then, He will
truly become like God. But if Man has not fully discovered the
elements of the Earth yet, I wonder when he will be able to do
this, talk less of the remaining elements which are not of his
home.
Man is special from other creations because he is made of
both the material and non‐material elements while other
creations are made of the material elements only. Imagine that
Man still lived as long as he allegedly used to live (900 years
plus) and also that man still lived as he once was lived in one
language. We would have probably discovered all the elements
by now for even God confirms this when He says in Gen 11:6 ‐
‘Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and
this is what they begin to do; now nothing they propose to do
will be withheld from them’. This clearly tells us that as nothing
is impossible for God, likewise nothing is impossible for man.
What is of keen interest to me here is that God had said
‘nothing they propose to do will be withheld from them’. This
proves the laws of life which were discovered ages ago but was
a secret held closely by cultists and great men of the past (most
never understood it, for to understand it is to understand God);
the law which says that there is an infinite power from which all
things are made is true. This power is extended to us by God
through the power of Word which no man has the wisdom to
master. It is the power of creation. The power of the Word
creates when spoken with the mouth or the mind. This is why
Christ tells us all things are possible through His name.
It is said in the Bible that ‘In the Beginning was the Word
and the Word was God’ to those that might understand. This
clearly states that there are two basic ‘beings’, the One which
acts (the Doer) and the One with the power of creation (the
Word). From the Bible, it is this Word that took form as Christ.
Thus one can conclude that God is truly made of three persons.
The First which is the infinite power from which all things
comes from, the second which is the Spirit of God that hovered
over the waters in Genesis, and the third which is the Word, the
Creator. Thus one cannot say that it is only the Creator that
created the earth. The Doer said through the Word, ‘Let there
be light’, and through the Infinite Power, there was light! Thus
that explains their inter‐dependency and completeness. They
are perfect in their existence and they are three beings that
make one God. Without each other, they are not complete. The
Infinite Power is probably whom Christ calls the ‘Father’,
because He is the ‘cause’ of all creations. Everything comes
from ‘Him’ (since Christ calls Him that way).
Man is the most wonderful creation of God because we
are made of the elements of both Good and Evil (Light and
Darkness). To live, one must blind the other, it is either the light
blinds the darkness or vice versa. Most interestingly, we ate
from the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, thus the power of
Good and Evil came into full manifestation in us.
Today man has formed so many religions in an attempt to
explain the concepts of these mysteries and more importantly,
to establish a moral standard of living. This is why tradition and
religion are closely tied together and is the root of the potential
conflict between different churches today. The Catholic Church
for example, not only imported parts of her founding traditions
(Roman and Jewish traditions) into Christianity but also
imposed some of it to those it preached her gospel to. This is
unfair and cannot be accepted any enlightened man who
applies reason to life. This is because some changes have to be
gradual. For instance, imagine a writer who has been writing for
years, then out of somewhere jumps out someone he doesn’t
know claiming that there is a better way to write. Even if he has
to learn the new way it has to be gradual and he would
naturally prefer adopt what he like and add to what he has
always known(not to totally throw away what he has been
doing for years in a bin). When people are adapted to certain
ways of live, they begin to like to live that way. Even if the
change is for the better, it has to be gradual and non‐imposed.
Thus am not also surprised when people who truly claim to be
the true Christians are Loners who devote themselves to
preaching the gospel alone (They are also very few who truly
know what they are doing).
The problem Catholics have with other Christian
denominations is that these people disregard teachings the
Catholic has deemed important like the Consecration of which
Christ had instructed ‘Do this in memory of me’. The Catholics
may be the only religion truly devoted to the consecration of
the Eucharist which is seen as the Body and Blood of Christ, the
only way through which we can have eternal life. This is the
probably the greatest mystery for it sounds more like: ‘the only
way through which one can obtain the Kingdom of God’; for
one might ask for instance ‘does it mean that anyone who does
not receive this Eucharist does not have eternal life?’ The
answer to that can be contemplated as the only reasonable
answer is that God closed the heavens after man sinned, but
even at that, those who die still lived because biblically, Christ
liberated them from the dead after He rose from death. Even
one who goes to hell still has his soul which is eternal and will
only suffer eternally in hell. The mystery of the Eucharist is
given a clear importance when Christ says in Luke 22:16 “For I
will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God.”
The Eucharist is something that has not been given its true
meaning yet. And man has always found it hard to do that
which he does not understand.
Christianity is regarded as the religion that leads to God
because its founder is believed to be God Himself, who also
tells us in His human form that He is the Way, the Truth and the
Life. Other religions are regarded as inferior by Christians
because none had God as the founder and are like other
religions that simply seek for moral conduct and coordination,
and the quest of man to understand the his purpose on earth.
Being a true Christian does not require anyone to be tied
to obvious traditions, for every tribe has her own. As an
intelligent being, a Christian must not do the practices which
contradict his faith in Christ (not the doctrine of the church).
Some of the practices in the Igbo tradition for instance
contradict the way of Christianity. Things like ancestral
veneration. The Igbos have great respect for their dead. Good
and bad men venerate their dead whether they were bad in
their lives or not because they believe the dead have power
over the living (which is certainly a fallacy). But Christ had said:
‘Leave Ceasar’s to Ceasar’, or rather ‘Let the dead bury their
dead’. One must not accept all he has been taught. Not only
does this apply to the Church but also to tradition. That man
has made so many mistakes since evolution is clear proof that
all we were born into is not ‘all’ correct. One must not remain
enslaved to whatever he has been taught. For instance, I do not
see any point in using buried pot in the ground filled with
decaying blood and palmwine and rotten worms as a shrine
and a medium to the Supreme God. The truth must be sought
and made clear. That the Catholics do a bazaar or pay tithes is
not what Christ taught us. It is what man created himself, the
only headway to survival and sustenance he could forge out.
Such practices should not be carried out as a religious duty but
because we are in support of continuing the spread of the
gospel. For it is impossible to deduct it from the
commandments of God. If everyone who wants to serve God
goes into the streets and starts preaching, there will be nothing
like order which is essential for man. And anything that has not
order cannot stand.
We should be able to cut down all the lumps and fill all the
holes in our way of life and our life, for we are free to choose
our way of life. We are not enslaved to customs or religion
neither are we enslaved to or our fellow men or anything in life
abstract or non‐abstract except life itself. If you find cause for
what you are doing and you have looked in the other side and
not found a better life, continue doing what you are doing. No
one truly knows how God judges but I believe that a God of
Judgment will judge with reason as long as it worthy enough.
Woe to the man who does not find a good way of life with the
entire guide he has before him.
