Waste to Energy Key Features

 Pyrolysis and Gasification - complete combustion (90%

reduction in waste volume)
 High efficiency of energy recovery without auxiliary fuel
 Wide range of materials can be used as fuel (industrial,
waste, human waste, animal remains)
 Manage low quality wastes (high in moisture)
 Easy operation with complete automation system OR
jobs for local residents
 Community friendly system (low odor & low emissions)
Pyrolysis

 Pyrolysis is the chemical decomposition of condensed organic substances

by heating
 It is a special case of thermolysis related to the chemical process of
charring, and is most commonly used for organic materials
 Occurs spontaneously at high temperatures
 Produces gas and liquid products and leaves a solid residue richer in
carbon content
 Pyrolysis is heavily used in the chemical industry, for example, to produce
charcoal, activated carbon, methanol and other chemicals

Gasification Process

A limited amount of oxygen or air is introduced into the reactor to allow the
organic material to be "burned" to produce carbon monoxide and energy,
which drives a second reaction that converts further organic material to
hydrogen and additional carbon dioxide.

Incineration is the burning (combustion) of solid fuel to produce heat energy.
Gasification is the temperature controlled conversion of hydrocarbons in solid fuels into
a gaseous form, syngas, which contains most of the energy potential of the original fuel
and can drive a variety of energy generating applications.
