1.4.1 Sinamics G120

Due to the firmware configuration of the G120 range of products the Data writing process
can take several minutes to complete when using the above mentioned method.

The time taken to write the PSD will be greatly reduced if the Data is written using the
MMC (Micro Memory Card) This can be done quite simply by following the procedure
setout below–

1) Locate and print the reference sheet- ‘Sinamics_PS_Codes.xls’ from

C:\Program Files\Siemens\psdtool\Sinamics Program codes. This shows
MLFB numbers against PS Codes or ‘Sort Numbers’ and is used later for
reference.
2) Create the following directory on a blank MMC card using a suitable card
reader. E:\USER\SINAMICS\PSD
3) A version of G120 PS data can be found in the directory C:\Program
Files\Siemens\psdtool. This should be verified as the latest version. The last
six digits of the file name represent the release date. Ie ‘G120 PS data 151106’
= 15th of November 2006. Check this date against the latest Sinamics Power
stack shown on the CS website ‘http://extranet.con.siemens.co.uk’ The latest
should always be used.
4) Copy all data from location ‘C:\Customer Support\Post Delegation\New
PSD tool\psdtool-20112006\G120 PS data 151106\PSD’ to the new
directory created on the MMC created in step 2.
5) Power on drive then insert MMC card. Note - if the unit is powered on while
the MMC card is fitted then fault code F0395 will be seen. This means an
‘Acceptance Test’ will be required. See footnote -Acceptance Test
6) Run the PSD programmer then select ‘Option’ and Click ‘Auto Detect’
7) From the main window select ‘Download’ A window will open. Select
‘Download’ again.
8) From the ‘Drive Type’ pull down option select ‘G120’
9) A new window will appear asking ‘Download From MMC (No for serial
download) Select YES for download with MMC then ‘OK’
10) A new window will open. For the ‘Serial Number’ option select ‘Preserve’
Enter the PS code next to the ‘MMC Download’ option. Use the previously
printed ‘Sinamics_PS_Codes.xls’ to cross-reference MLFB (model number)
against Code.
11) Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
12) When ‘Completed Processing’ can be seen then select Cancel

Acceptance Test (F0395)

To complete the acceptance test the procedure shown below should be followed –

a) P3 – set to 3
b) P10 – set to 30
c) P9761 – 12345 (12345 - the default ‘Safety Password’ If changed then use new
password)
d) P7844 – set to 0
