The Research Paper:

Yes, you do have to do a research paper.

l
The Nuts & Bolts
• You can write on whomever you wish, as
long as:
o You have read or will read this -x left out .ne qll"SfiOn GIl """" english
UfenI.""'" tat. I couldn't f'Cl'IleIIIb .... who the
author/work. (Yes, I know that didcens"...-ote bAvie! Copperfiold ond Oliver Twist?
should be obvious, but apparently it
hasn't been obvious in the past.)
o You can find literary criticism on the writer in The literature Resource
Center in the tab marked "literary Criricism." You CANNOT use reviews
or straightforward summaries.
• The literature Resource Center is a database in the Evans library:
http://go.galegroup.com/ps/start.do?p·litRC&:u·fmcc&:authCoun
t=l
o You cannot write on the same author you're doing your oral report on.
o You cannot write on any of the do-not-write-on writers (check your oral
report instructions).
o You CANNOT write on a work that we have read and discussed.
HOWEVER, that does not mean you cannot write on a work by an author
we have read.
o I must approve the author.
• This is a literary analYSiS, similar to all the papers you're writing this semester. I
do NOT want biographies!

o at least one primary source (a work of the author'S you are discussing)
o At least 3 secondary sources (which obviously will not include the work"
you're analyzing)

our library are acceptable. Any electronic sources must come from our library'S
databases. Absolutely no Wikipedia, Essays4Sales, Spark Notes, enotes, etc.

that information.

Literary databases specif1callvlor literature:

• Uterature Resource Center
• MagillOnUterature PLUS
• And a couple of others
You cannot rewrite this essay, nor can you do an ediring sheet. I'll be happy to read
drafts, check documentation, etc. Please keep in mind that the requirements are
required, not optional. I will not look at a final paper that does meet these requirements,
which means that paper will receive a zero.
