The New Year Fiesta Chapter 9 was an annual motorbike modifying contest and dance competition held in Malang, Java. The event, which was first held in 2004, attracted around 190 participants from Java and Bali. It featured eight categories of motorbike modification as well as dance performances from local high schools. The first place dance group was a combination from two Malang high schools. While most agreed the event was a success based on increased turnout, the vice principal of one school felt it was not as successful due to an accidental incident involving a damaged kick stand on one participant's motorbike.

MALANG-The New Year Fiesta Chapter 9 Motorbike Contest and Dance Competition, officially known as the motorbike’s modify contest and dance competition, were held on Sunday, 24 February 2013 at the volleyball court of Senior High School1 Malang. It is one of the Senior Highschool 1 Malang’s annual event. The event was success and crowded because it was held for the people who live in Java and Bali. The New Year Fiesta Chapter 9 Motorbike Contest and Dance Competition or generally called The NYF, was held since 2004. It was a motorbike modifying contest and dance competition. The participants who attended this event were from Java and Bali. The event was held by Student Organization or basically called OSIS and the motorbike modifying extracurricular, Malang Misa Speed. The purpose of this event was to greet the new creation from the young generation by motorbike modifying. Besides, the NYF commitee also wanted to show that motorbike modifying is not a negative thing to do and it had a purpose to drain the young generation’s creativity. The motorbike contest has eight categories. There were : Beginner, Racing Look, Street Racing, Funky, Matic Custom, and Bebek-Bike Custom, Bebek-Sport Street Racing and Matic Street Racing. The Bebek-Sport Street Racing and Matic Street Racing was new classes of the contest categories. The Dance Competition also had a lot of participants from Malang. All of the dancers from each highschool was attending this event. The dance group combination named, Heksareborn, was the first winner of the dance competition. They are group combination from Senior Highschool 5 Malang and vocational Highschool 5. The second and the third winner were from Senior Highschool 3 and Senior Highschool 5. There were also some opinions from the students who get involved with this event and attended the event. The chairman of Student Organization, Ida Ayu Gerhana, said, “Gratefully, there was a lot of participants from Java-Bali. ±190 participants were attending this event. ”. “This year, the event is more success than last year based on those who registered themselves to attend the competition. Besides, the number of boys who join in the NYF’s committe is more than the number of the girls. So, we, the girls commitee, didn’t have any problem to do some hard work things. And also, the donation is more than enough” said one of the NYF commitee, Vetty Izza A. But, the Mr. Sholeh, the vice headmaster of Senior Highschool 1 Malang have an opposite opinions, he said that the event was not that success because there was a little accident between one of the NYF commitee and the participant. The kick stand of the participant’s motorbike was broken and it was one of the NYF commitee’s fault. Based on the number of the audience, the event was success because the participants and the audience who attended this event was greater than last year. Although, there was unintentional accident but the event still went well. (NTA/26)
