Proposal

Over my 6 months on this course so far, I have learnt a lot about a lot of
elements of filmmaking. Such as Efficient research, proper production planning
and how to properly use my camera to its full potential. Through doing
broadcasting and journalism, I have learnt how to format and create a radio
show. In addition to this, I have learnt how to get in contact with influencers or
people I want to interview effectively. All of this means I can confidently create
a piece of film with the knowledge I have gained over this course so far
independently.

For my final project, I want to encapsulate both modern and retro style music
culture into a single music video. I’m going to incorporate the main features of
the newfound Synth-Wave genre of editing/music along with a fresh take on
80’s filming techniques and effects into one. The main feeling, I want a viewer
to feel while watching my piece is nostalgia. To achieve this, I will use the
resources that are available to me such as the college studio, a drone,
greenscreen, and more. My friends will easily be available to be in my music
videos as actors, I will however make sure they are available on the dates I
need them for. I will incorporate independent learning slots in between
lessons and work on my project. I will use my time in tutorial to gather more
information and research for my project also. Doing a music video is a big
contrast to my usual work on my course. Due to only having experience
making documentaries and one short film, doing a music video for my FMP will
help improve my editing and camera skills. In addition to this, it will boost my
confidence in filmmaking as I will have general experience in most avenues of
this course. This will be my biggest and most ambitious project yet and so with
the improved editing and camerawork skills, along with overall boosted
creativity, it will bring me into year 2 with a better overlook and understanding
of the course. It will allow me to have more options in terms of projects in the
future.

I will reflect on and evaluate my work by going over what I’ve done in detail
after I’ve done it. I will do this as the most recent thing I have done will be
fresh in my memory and I will able to explain it in full detail rather than reflect
on it weeks later after doing it and not really remembering what I did or how I
did it. Doing this will also help me document it in chronological order easier,
along with comparing it to my production schedule.
