Outreach Pastor

A 1,000-member evangelical suburban church seeks an Outreach Pastor.

Primary responsibilities: coordinate and oversee various outreach programs inside and outside the
church, including Sports Ministry -- growing our summer sports camp and developing and
implementing sports leagues. Other areas the candidate would oversee are church-wide evangelistic
events, missions ministry and trips, and guest follow-up programs. Another key responsibility is to
equip and train the church body in outreach and evangelism through small groups and volunteer
opportunities.

Qualifications: The candidate should have a minimum of a bachelor's degree, some formal Bible
training, and at least 3 years of church staff experience. The candidate should have a passion for
reaching people for Christ, an interest in using sports as an outreach, strong people skills, leadership
and team-building abilities, and effective teaching skills.

The Outreach Pastor, as a member of the pastoral team, shall work under the direct supervision of
the Senior Pastor and cooperatively with other staff members as outlined in the church constitution.
His primary goal will be to organize and implement an effective, relationally-driven outreach
mindset that permeates the church culture. Primary pastoral duties will include, but is not limited to,
the oversight of Sports Ministry, Missions, evangelism training, church outreach events, and visitor
follow-up.

Qualifications
Spiritual
He must have accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and have consistently
demonstrated a godly lifestyle of integrity, honesty, purity, sensitivity, and respect for others. He
must, without reservation or hesitation, be in agreement with the mission, vision, and statement of
faith of Parma Heights Baptist. He must have a passion to reach people for Jesus Christ and a
burden to equip the body of Christ to be witnesses outside of the walls of the church. He must meet
the criteria of I Timothy 3:1-7.

Personal
He must have a strong sense of mission and divine calling and commitment to the task. He must be
a visionary, a team player, supportive of associates and co-workers, self-driven and demonstrate
spiritual and emotional maturity.

Professional
Must have a strong background and experience in leading and directing a church body in the area of
evangelism. Additionally, he must have a proven track record of leadership and administrative
ability, a delegator and equipper, a capable communicator and organizer and be willing to be held
accountable for follow-through on all objectives, plans and details.

Responsibilities
To provide vision, leadership and implementation to the church Outreach Ministries.

Missions
§ Oversee our Missions Program including policy-making, adding/dropping missionary
families, missions awareness, budgeting, etc.
§ Work with Senior Pastor in Overseeing the bi-annual Missions Conference. This includes
determining objectives, lining up speakers, and coordinating the efforts of the ministries to
participate.
§ Co-ordinate and lead in church short-term mission trips providing a consistent philosophy
throughout all the ministries of the church

Evangelism Training
§ Equip the church body to be able to share their faith and be a witness at work, home, school,
etc by developing relationships with unbelievers.
§ Provide and promote training though ABFs, small groups, Wednesday night classes, etc.

Sports Ministry
§ Provide the vision, leadership, and training for summer Sports Camp
§ Provide the vision, leadership and training for Sports Leagues for both children and adults;
utilizing this as a vital outreach strategy and making it as effective as possible.

Church-wide Events
§ Develop, recruit and implement annual church-wide events that provide members with the
opportunity to invite their unsaved friends.
§ These events are outreach-focused and line up with philosophy and vision of evangelism.

Connections Ministry
§ Responsible for all Greeters in the parking lot, doors, and hallways before, during and after
the Sunday morning services.
§ To design and implement an effective follow-up system for all of our guests from events and
regular worship services until they become members of PHBC.
§ Oversee newcomers quarterly luncheon
