Through Tag Bit Support, the CLC1160/1180 can produce two different screen
resolutions on the same page—one for text, the other for background, a great way to
impose text over graphics. Partnered with Canon’s Automatic Image Refinement, image

Colours produced on the CLC1160/1180 are rich and vibrant, the result of smaller
toner particles of Canon’s Finer, Brighter (FB) Toner technology. These smaller particles

sharper images. The Single-step Direct Transfer System transfers toner directly from the
PAPER

configured with the Editor-F1,
the CLC1160/1180 accepts
RDF - E3
document and colour
adjustments directly, without
the need for desktop
applications. As a result, users
can walk up to the device and
manipulate images, alter
colours or adjust sizes—you
name it.
Recirculating Document
Feeder-E3 — Configuring
the CLC1160/1180 with the
optional RDF is one of the
quickest ways to boost your
productivity. The RDF
accommodates up to 100
sheets of A4 or A4-R originals, Paper Deck - E1
or 50 sheets of A3 (up to
200gsm stock).
Paper Deck-E1 — Adding
the 2,500-sheet Paper Deck to
the CLC1160/1180 boosts
paper capacity to 3,850
sheets—instantly.
Stapler Sorter-F2 — The
20-bin Stapler Sorter, with the
standard Buffer Pass Unit,
provides the CLC1160/1180

Easy to integrate and simple to use, both the ColorPASS and Cyclone range of

controllers provide seamless connectivity across networks, platforms, and

applications. Delivering multi-user access and functionality, they cut pre-press time

considerably. Now creative, pre-press, and pressroom personnel, as well as

clients, can be linked with the entire production process of any job. They can

submit jobs, monitor progress, proof digital documents, make revisions, and issue

approvals, all from their desktop PC.

3DAP - the move to
fully digital proofing
The 3DAP standard addresses
the needs of a totally digital
production environment,
whereby electronic files are
supplied direct to the printer.
This process eliminates the
need for film and chemical
proofs by utilising Adobe®
PDF files. New guidelines for
the generation of these files
are known as 3DAP v. 2 PDF.
The magazine publishing and
advertising industries are the
major beneficiaries of this
new technology. As well as
vastly higher quality and
consistency, it also means cost
savings due to the elimination
of several processes. That all
means greater client
satisfaction.
Straight from
computer to plate
Computer to Plate (CTP) is the
process of transferring digital
data from computers directly
onto printing plates. For
colour matching, contract
quality digital proofs are now
the critical communication tool
between client and printer,
providing an accurate visual
representation of the final
printed job. The CTP process
also brings quality
improvements because the
registration of the job is
performed with digital
precision – eliminating the
potential for human error
during the old film stripping
