1.0 INTRODUCTION

Nowadays, learning and communicating in the English language are becoming more
challenging. This can be seen in anywhere English usage is the main concern
especially in educational and working environment. Therefore, there is a major
responsibility to the language lecturers to teach the language effectively not only in
classroom environment but also outside classroom environment. Currently, the
Ministry of Higher Learning Institution is imposing and encouraging that the teaching
and learning in all polytechnics and community colleges should be conducted fully in
English. This raises the awareness that the current downfall in mastering the
language effectively should be addressed with proper activities, which eventually will
cater a better way of learning it successfully. Withstand this urge; the English
Language Society of Polytechnic Johor Bahru would like to propose English Fun Day
2010 to promote the learning of the language through activities in English language
outside of classroom environment. The proposed activities in this proposal enable
students to utilize the English language to improve their communication strategies
and approaches in English. Besides exposing students to various ways to improve
their interpersonal communication skills among students, this event is also hoped to
be a platform for them to show their brilliant talents, entertain themselves through the
English language games and drama presentation, and encourage them to assist one
another to use the language widely.

4.0 AIMS

English for All 2009 is organized to:

• pursue students’ hidden talents
• inculcate students’ interest in using the English language in daily life
• enhance students’ and lecturers’ interpersonal and communication skills
• vary the learning of the English language through drama presentation and language games
• encourage the spirit of teamwork, unity, co-operation and tolerance through participating in
the proposed activities

5.0 OBJECTIVES

By the end of the program, students should be able to:

• learn the English language in enjoyable way through the activities
• improve their vocabulary
• increase their confidence to communicate with lecturers and other students
effectively

In conclusion, this event will be an essential platform for our students to improve their
English language through participating and organizing the activities proposed. The
