1. Based on your observations, how would you categorize plant

organs?
Plants have three types of vegetative organs: roots, stems and leaves. There are
also reproductive organs like flowers. Usually the vegetative organs are involved in
procuring required nutrients for the plant. For example, the green photosynthetic
leaves are responsible for the production of food, while the roots can function as
excellent food storage organs, as well as obtaining water and dissolved minerals by
absorption from the soil.

Stems, developing between the leaves and the roots, produce conducting tissues
(xylem and phloem) responsible for transporting food, water, and dissolved
substances throughout the rest of the plant. Reproductive organs of the
angiosperms are the flowers, fruits, and seeds. These three organs are ordinarily
involved in sexual reproduction, while the vegetative organs may function in
asexual reproduction.

2. How can you tell where one organ begins or ends?

You can tell where one organ begins or ends based on its form and function. Plant
organs begin and end at a particular point of attachment (e.g. petiole in the case of
the leaf). Internally, this is characterized by a shift in the vascular arrangement
from one point to another.
Furthermore, the type of cells also indicates where a particular organ begins and
ends. More often than not, plant organs start with a bud and actively dividing cells
and ends with rigid, mature cells.

3. Why did you not find buds in the axils of all the plants
examined?
We did not find buds in the axils of all the plants examined
because the pattern of growth for these plants is monopodial.
