July 2009 - till date:

Engineer Continuous cast copper rod Plant ( capacity-18mt/hr and 7mt/hr)
Technology-SOUTH WIRE,USA

Plant profile:
CCR (continuous cast copper rod) plant, with a production capacity of 80000 TPA is based on
state of art technology (USA).Copper cathodes are melted in a vertical shaft furnace and
continuously cast through a water cooled wheel in to a metallurgical homogenised trapezoidal
cast bar forms. They are then trimmed and flattened before entering in to Morgan non twist
rooling mill to reduce size to the required dimensions.
Continuous cast copper rods of 8,11,12.5.16 and 19.6mm are produced to cater the needs of a
wide customer range.

Summary of work experience

 Involved in Commissioning of new plant CCR-2 (capacity-7mt/hr)

 Involved in project to improve the quality of rod produced in CCR-2.
 Involved as a shift incharge of CCR-2 PLANT looking after whole production activity and
quality of product in shift.
 Got induction training of duration two months in HINDALCO ,RENUKOOT
(Aluminium division of HINDALCO).
 Looking after- melting furnace(capacity -22 tonn)
 Holding furnace (capacity-7 tonn)

 Upper launder, lower launder ,tundish, casting wheel and band.

 Responsible for rolling mill operation and coiler operation.Executing cost saving and
energy saving techniques/ measures and modifications to achieve substantial
reduction in expenditures and work within the budget.

 Responsible for following quality parameters of produced copper rod -

 Cast bar microstructure after casting by controlling metal temperature, cooling rate
and sooting.

 Surface oxide of copper rod.

 Copper rod microstructure after rolling mill by proper annealing of copper rod.

 Twist test.

 Oxygen ppm of copper rod.

 Elongation of copper rod by ensuring proper annealing.

 Ultimate tensile strength of copper rod.

 Surface quality of copper rod.

 Corrosion resistance of copper rod by proper waxing.

 Responsible for premium grade quality (multi wire, telecommunication wire and
power cable)
