The written language is a significant source of input to EFL learners in Brazil. The
higher the spelling inconsistency is, the more negative the influence on pronunciation
will be.
The English have no respect for their Os ingleses não têm respeito por sua língua

Vejamos o grafema "ch", representando 3 fonemas
diferentes:
check - [tshék]
chocolate - [tshaklət]
beach - [biytsh]
-----------------------------
machine - [məshiyn]
Chicago - [shəkhagow]

chaos - [kheyaz]

stomach - [stəmək]
say - [sey]
past - [phæst]

sure - [shUr]

-----------------------------
casual - [khæzhuwəl]
usually - [yuwzhuwəliy]
television - [théləvIzhən]
------------------------------------
island - [aylənd]
aisle - [ayl]
no inglês.
2003:
The orthography of English is absurd A ortogarfia do inglês é absurda, para não
