Determination of Natural Frequency and

Natural Time period of free vibrating
model frame.
Frequency:
It is the no of occurrence of a repeating event per unit time. It is also referred as temporal frequency.

Natural Frequency:
It is the frequency at which system naturally vibrates once it has been into motion. In other words
frequency is the number of times a system will oscillates between its original position and displaced
position, if there is no outside interference.

Units:
Units of frequency are “Hertz”.

Angular Frequency:
Angular frequency is defined as the rate of change of orientation angle during rotation.

  2
is the natural circular frequency and is the natural cyclic frequency. is measured in rad/sec.

Natural Time Period:
Time period is the duration of one cycle in a repeating event. Time period and frequency are inversely
proportional to each other.

Vibration Analysis Using ANSYS

Referring to the two-mass-spring system sketched below, the basic steps is performed as a vibration
analysis with ANSYS.

Reference Results

The results obtained from the modal analysis and the harmonic analysis performed in ANSYS. To this
end, the following parameters are chosen

m = 10 kg , k = 2000N/m and ˆ F = 100N .
