ENERGY PERFORMANCE OF BUILDINGS

Energy resources have started to fall short of the escalating needs of

the world during the last century. We can argue that the limited
production and the high cost of energy is a big setback for our country
in competition with the rest of the world.

Along with industrial plants, one third of the current energy capacity of
our country is consumed for building heating purposes. At this point, the
energy efficiency should be considered as a whole in terms of buildings,
industry, transportation and agricultural sector and solution suggestions
should be towards providing productivity increase in all sectors.

Steps must be taken without delay towards efficient use of energy in

housing and industry for which we pay a higher price than most of the
European countries. When we examine electricity and natural gas prices
in the European countries we conclude that Turkey must pay a much
greater attention to energy efficiency than the developed countries do.
In this connection, the regulation of energy efficiency performances in
buildings is pending. Energy report cards shall start to be issued as of
1st of July 2010 following preparations of measurement programs.

These documents will be prepared by an “organization certified to issue

energy identity cards” and shall be approved by a relevant
administration and contain information like the energy requirements of
the building, its energy consumption classifications, its insulation
properties and the efficiency of its heating and cooling systems. The
energy identity document shall be an “integral part” of the residential
usage license for new buildings. Existing buildings will also be required
to obtain the same document within 10 years.

05 - 08 MAY 2010 ISK SODEX FAIR IS WAITED IN

EXCITEMENT..

The international trade is in a course of very fast progress today, and

consequently the importance of fairs grow indispensably. Fairs are
grounds where products and latest technologies are displayed which are
attained through extremely careful efforts and by great labor. With
these features, fairs are mirrors reflecting the economical and social life
as well as being indicators of foreign economical relations.

In this connection, the International Heating, Refrigeration,

Climatization, Ventilation, Insulation, Pumping, Valves, Installation,
Water Treatment, Pools and Solar Energy Systems Fair will be organized
between 05th to 08th of May 2010 at the Istanbul Fairs Center - CNR
Expo, World Trade Center complex.

ISK-SODEX 2010 fair will be held in 11 halls covering approximately

55.000 m of net area. To take place in an activity that is being
attended by the entire sector would add prestige to your brands. The
ISK-SODEX fair of 2008 had 78.243 visitors from 84 countries, 7,560 of
them being foreign citizens.

An ISK-SODEX 2010 Implementation Contest will also be organized at

the ISK-SODEX 2010 fair in order to carry into practice the heat
technique and mechanical installation knowledge of higher school and
technical high school students while evaluating and rewarding the
projects of the participating students in the fields of energy saving,
renewable energy, comfort and hygiene which comply with standards. In
the previous organization, award winning students of the ISK-SODEX
2008 Contest, which was organized by ISKAV, DOSIDER, ISKID, IZODER,
TTMD and HMSF AS, were given their awards by the Minister of Industry
and Commerce, Mr. Zafer Çağlayan, at a ceremony held on 8th of May
2008.

Similar preparations are under way this year as well with the
anticipation that there will be a much broader participation this year.

Congress. An international “Students’ Competition” will be organized
during the Congress and a national team will be formed for this purpose.
The team will be composed of students of a university which will be
elected again by a nationwide contest in the Heating-Refrigeration-
Climatization field.

As ISKID, we are in support of the Clima 2010 Congress. Our contribution

for Clima 2010 fund is 28.000 TL. On top of this, a project conducted
under supervision of Ass. Prof. Dr. Erhan Boke of ITU Mechanical
Engineering faculty, who is also a member of ISKID-USIB Commission,

TREE PLANTATION FOR THE ISKID MEMORIAL

FOREST IS COMPLETED

As ISKID, we have completed our tree plantation activities within the

borders of Tekirdağ province in connection with the “Memorial Forests
Project” in cooperation with TEMA Foundation with the purpose of
making our people more sensitive against soil erosion and forest fires
through their forestation love. With the widening of forest lands, we aim
to create awareness to reduce global warming, to fulfill personal and
corporate responsibilities for the environment we all live in.

İSKİD
We maintain our activities targeting to initiate new plantation projects
and to raise awareness of selecting the products used in industry among
