Job Title: Social Organizer (Male/ Female)

Location: SWAT, DIR, MIANWALI, KASHMOR, KARACHI EAST


Reports To: Field Coordinator (FC) & Orphans Support Program (HH OSP)
Staff Reporting: Nil
Job Grade: Field Officer
Duration: One-year initially (extendable)
Probation: 03 months initially (extendable)
Monthly Salary: PKR 15,000/-(Inclusive all.)

Context:
Helping Hand for Relief and Development (Orphan Support Program) Pakistan started
its operations in 2005 and currently working in AJK, NWFP, Punjab, Sindh and
Balochistan.
HH OSP is currently implementing its restructuring and expansion which has the
geographical spread including Swat and Dir-NWFP, Mianwali-Punjab, Kandhkot and
Karachi-Sindh. HHRD is running few of its projects in these areas and has potential to
start numerous other projects after successful launch of HH OSP in these areas.

Primary Responsibilities:
Social Organizer is mainly responsible of implementing activities related to the Orphan
Support Program. He, however, has to represent HHRD and its other projects in the
area to the extent that do not disturb the efficiency of HH OSP – about 25% of his/her
time.

Key Responsibilities:
HH Representation
1. Act as ambassadors for organization and uphold ethical values prescribed by
organization.
2. Representative at community level ensuring good stewardship of all inputs.

Orphan Care
3. Deliver trainings to orphans and other target groups.
4. Liaise with local government and other institutions relating to child/orphan/widow
welfare to identify and register needy orphans and families.
5. Responsible for developing target orphans' profile for better understanding of the
beneficiary to his/her sponsor/donor.
6. To assist Orphans and their guardians and community at large to identify
orphans needs and to generate solutions, identifying priority issues and to
analyze their problems
7. To assist the Orphans in developing their own capacity and strength to the point
where they no longer need the services of HH OSP.

Data Collection
8. Beneficiaries’ identification, registration and data-verification.
9. Conduct interviews/ case-studies/ counseling with orphans and their families.
10. Ensure that all data collection done by him/her during field operations is
submitted to Regional Coordinator within two days of the collection.
11. Facilitate in the collection of all data related to HH activities, including the
baseline data about each area from time to time.

Community Involvement
12. Identify volunteers, community activist and focal points.
13. Carry out social mobilization in said areas by establishing and developing CBOs
with signing of MoU for the welfare of orphans
14. Community Mobilization for the care of the orphans
15. Deal with Orphans’ issues, identification, community base solutions, referrals and
special assistance.
16. Develop excellent relations between beneficiaries and the community.
17. Maintaining good relations with communities, notables and local contact persons
to involve them in HH activities and seek their support as and when required.
18. To encourage and stimulate communities to organize for action aimed at solving
their problems and to plan, implement and monitor action that they define
themselves.
19. Use participatory approach in the community.

Field work
20. Distribute HH printed materials throughout targeted communities informing HH
activities and appeal to the masses.
21. Carry out field related OSP activities as prescribed in the Implementation
Process and Implementation Guidelines.
22. Visit orphans’ schools/institutions to ensure their proper education/ training/
upkeep.
23. Visits each cluster once or twice per week to deliver a structured program.
24. Follow up of all HH initiatives in the district.
25. Always willing for long traveling and night stays in the field.

Report writing
26. Constantly appraise the Regional Coordinator/ HH OSP on activities in the field
and to draw their attentions for urgent interventions that require his/her action.
27. Collect data relating to the orphans progress and take fresh photographs
28. Identification of the new orphan related work opportunities and analysis of related
NGOs working in the field.
29. Prepare and submit weekly written reports in relation to the work plan to Regional
Coordinator (cc: HH OSP)
30. Properly document field activities on prescribed formats and ensure that
necessary information is accurately entered.
31. Share beneficiary and other stakeholders’ feedback with Regional Coordinator/
HH OSP.

Management
32. Keeping records of beneficiaries and outreach data electronically.
33. Keep confidentiality as the orphans’ data is confidential or un-shareable and also
follow the HH secrecy policy.
34. Organization and execution of workshops, gatherings, meetings etc
35. Should follow the toolkit/ manuals provided by the HH OSP
36. Assist in the development of a work plan in the selected area and conduct
Surveys for Orphans.
37. Any other related duties assigned by the Regional Coordinator/ HH OSP.

Key Working Relationships:

Internal: Regional Coordinator, OSP and Program support staff

External: CBOs, Volunteers, Orphans, Guardians, Schools/ Centers catering


sponsored orphans, Zakat and Masajid Committees, HH Projects in the
district, Other Organizations/departments related to orphans

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Minimum two year of experience in community mobilization and implementation
of programs/ activities.
• Good knowledge and use of 3rd Sector Terminology
• Strong knowledge of local cultures.
• Good level of English and Urdu (speaking and writing).
• Fluent in all local languages.
• Good Command on MS office

Equipment Used:
• Personal computer and other standard office equipment

• Capable of learning rapidly

activates which can create tension/ friction between employee and or community
members or can earn bad name for the organization.
