Attendance and Class Participation

Attendance is mandatory. The level of a student‟s online class participation is valuated and will be
reflected in their final grade. Since this is an Internet Course the student is required to email the
instructor every Wednesday and give the instructor a status of what the student is doing via
MyBlackBoard. If the student fails to email the instructor on Wednesday but emails on another day of that
week via MyBlackBoard during the semester, then the student will be counted tardy for the week. If the
student fails to email the complete week, the student will be counted absent. The subject area in the
MyBlackBoard email MUST be typed “WEEKLY ACTIVITY STATUS REPORT”, if you fail to put this in the
subject area, you will not get credit for that week. This process affects your participation grade. The
participation grade affects 5% of your grade.

Class and Lab Participation

This is an Internet course. This Internet course is a learner-learning environment. This course is NOT a
self-pace course, there are due dates that the learner needs to meet which are stated in the course
calendar document. The assignments, project, quizzes, and tests are not a team effort.

Working with required software can take a great deal of time and it may be necessary for students make
time to work at a computer. If the student‟s home/work computers do not have the required software,
then the student needs to make time to come on campus and work during the lab hours. The computer
labs (N119 and N104) have the required software for this course. N119 or N104 is available for the
learners use. The lab hours are posted on the door outside the labs. Though lab time is not tracked, the
student is responsible for meeting assignment deadlines.

The ACC computer lab (N119 or N104) is required for schoolwork and appropriate Internet connections
only. If you miss use, you will lose the privilege of the computer lab usage. If the student is disruptive in
class or lab, will be withdrawal from class.

Withdrawal
Students are responsible for withdrawing themselves if they are unable to meet the tests/assignments
deadlines on the Internet course. The student wishing to withdraw should consult the procedures detailed
in the Class Schedule. The student MUST go to the Registrar’s Office at ACC to withdrawal from
the class. The student CANNOT withdrawal from the course online. I would appreciate if you would
come by my office and discuss the issue or email me via MyBlackBoard to let me know that you are
withdrawing from the class. I would like to know why you are withdrawing. If a student simply stops doing
the work and does not withdrawal from the course, a failing grade will appear on his/her transcript. The
instructor does NOT withdrawal a student for any circumstance. It is the student‟s responsibility to
withdrawal from the class prior to or on the scheduled withdrawal date. If the learner fails to withdrawal,
then the learner will make a FAILING GRADE in the course.

Incomplete
Meeting deadlines is one of the most important aspects of production. Therefore all work must be
completed within the class deadlines. The skills taught in this class act as a foundation for subsequent
classes. If a student knows he or she will not be able to complete the class, they should drop the class
and register again during a time when they know can complete the full course. Students will not be given
an incomplete grade in the course without sound reason and documented evidence. In any case, for a
student to receive an incomplete, he or she must be passing and have 90% of his/her work completed.
The student must contact the instructor prior to the last day of classes in order to be granted an
Incomplete. Remember if you fail to complete the assignments for the incomplete in the following
semester from the semester you are in class, the “I” is automatically converted to an “F”. In other words,
an “I” may be awarded when the instructor determines that minimal work on the part of the learner is
needed to complete the course. An “I” grade not changed by the instructor to a grade of completion (A, B,
C, D, or F) by the end of the following semester will automatically be changed to an “F”.

Student Information Plan (SIP) or Syllabus

This Student Information Plan (SIP) or Syllabus is subject to change during the semester. The learner
needs to get into MyBlackBoard to read the most current version several times during the semester. This
Syllabus and all attachments connected to this Syllabus consist of the rules of this class.

Saving on USB Jump Drives

Do NOT store your computer files on the ACC lab computer (drive C:) hard drive if you use the computers
at ACC. We do not guarantee the security of files on Drive C. Store your files on your own USB Jump
Drive. The instructor may ask to take up your USB Jump Drive at any time during the semester.
The learner is required to have at least one (1) 1GB, or 2GB or 4GB USB Jump Drive. Label USB Jump
Drive with your name and your instructor‟s name. After you use the USB drive, you will need to right-click
the green arrow icon on the task bar to safely remove the USB drive. Do NOT just pull it out; you can
destroy your data on the USB drive. Since this is an Internet course, I would suggest that you save your
files in a folder on your hard drive at your computer at your home. I would strongly suggest that you
make a copy of the saved work and place it on an USB drive.

Students with Disabilities

If you have any condition, such as a physical or learning disability, which will make it difficult for you to
carry out the work as I have outlined it, or which will require academic accommodations, please notify me
as soon as possible.
