- Today we present the Pastoral Letter of Our Bishop entitled “Do this in
Memory of me”

- After the greetings the Bishop presents the title of this Pastoral letter and
Our Bishop gives his impression on deep faith among the faithful for the
Holy Eucharist in Gulf and the contrast in other areas..

- Then the Bishop speaks of his childhood family memory of his father and
how he taught him to have respect and gratitude for daily bread.

consider in our daily life and to insist on our children..

- Recalling the event of announcing “Himself” as bread of life Jesus

encounters opposition and grumbling from the listening crowd, so Jesus
asks the disciples “Do you wish to leave, and Peter answers: “Master, to
whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”

- The Pastoral letter presents Christ as food of truth, quoting from the
Apostolic exhortation of the Pope and the invitation to regularity to be

reminds of a very important attitude we should have towards the
Eucharist namely: Adoration and a gentle reminder “Never throw
away JESUS.”

Indian Christian People’s Party (ICPP)

- Christians in Tamil Nadu have launched a political party in the state,
where a legislative assembly poll is scheduled for April 13.
- Archbishop A.M. Chinnapa of Madras-Mylapore diocese formally
launched the Indian Christian People’s Party (ICPP) on March 20.
- He also unveiled the flag of the party, which has 150 members from all
over the state.
- “ICPP would be the political organ of the Indian Christian Church,” the
archbishop said.
- Founder member of the party F. A. Nathan said the founding team plans to
build its membership among Christians, specifically Catholics in Tamil
Nadu, before launching it in other states.
- The founding committee of the party asked the state government to protect
fishermen, provide job opportunities and contain inflation.

Schools deplore state choice of

teachers
- Managers of Christian-run or aided schools have expressed their dismay at
- a recent state regulation that puts the appointment of all teachers and
principals in the hands of the government.
- Under the new law, a Gujarat government “staff recruitment committee”
will make the appointments.
- According to the February regulation, the committee will comprise
government officials and educationists and will have no representative of
the school management.
- Previously, appointment of teachers and principals was done by the school
management.
- “We recruit teaching staff, keeping in view our own vision and mission
and this will not go well with us,” said Father Paul Raj of Rosary School at
Vadodara.
- “It amounts to interference in our institutions,” remarked Father Fernandes
Durrai, principal of the Ahmedabad-based St Xavier’s Loyola School.
- He said the minority institutions, including those belonging to Christians,
had the Constitutional right to run their educational institutions. “It may
not go well with our vision of education.”
- Ahmedabad-based Sanjay Vincent, a Catholic, running the Centre for
Education Development Research and Action NGO, said: “Christian and
other minority institutions will suffer badly if the new fiat is imposed.
There is a likelihood of recruitment of teachers with an anti-minority bent
of mind which could prove detrimental.”
