Friends for Hope is an organization of young adults in our community dedicated to helping local children suffering from
cancer. The mission of Friends for Hope is to raise funds for the Vannie E. Cook Jr Children’s Cancer and Hematology
Clinic, provide volunteers to support the Clinic staff, and increase community awareness of the Clinic and the needs of
the young patients that it serves.

Friends for Hope hosts various social events in an effort to give back to our community such as the Friends for Hope 480
Ranch Benefit, an annual Christmas Party for patients of the clinic and their families, and various mixers and fundraisers
to promote community awareness. Friends for Hope also helps several needy families of the clinic each Christmas with
gifts and meals.

On Saturday, May 14th, 2011, the organization will be hosting the First Annual Bay Fishing Tournament. It will be held at
Louie’s Backyard on South Padre Island. There will be cash prizes, awards, food, angler bags, and fun.

All proceeds from this event will be donated directly to the Vannie E. Cook Jr. Children’s Cancer and Hematology Clinic.

1ST ANNUAL BAY FISHING TOURNAMENT
OFFICIAL RULES 2011
• All entrants must have registration form on file by 9:30pm Friday, May 13th, 2011 at the Captain’s Meeting.
Anglers will receive their boat number and an overview of the rules.
• All live and artificial bait is allowed. All fish must be taken by rod and reel.
• Entrants must have a valid 2011 Texas Fishing License and Saltwater Stamp.
• Each person in the boat MUST BE entered in the tournament, (Max 4 people per boat). NO OBSERVERS!
No fish will be accepted for judging from a non-registered contestant.
• One pole per angler. You can have more than one rod and reel on the boat, but you cannot fish with more
than one at a time.
• No fish pooling is permitted between teams. Only fish caught by team members on the weigh in date are
eligible for official weigh in. Pooling of fish will result in disqualification.
• Wading is permitted but within sight of the boat.
• Fishing hours are from 6:00am – 4:00pm Saturday May 14th, 2011.
• There is a MANDATORY CHECK IN AT LOUIES BACK YARD. This will be from 6am-9am. There will
be a representative checking in boats as they drive down the small channel behind Louie’s Backyard’s deck.
Make sure boat number is visible.
• Weigh in will be at Louie’s Backyard from 1:30pm – 4:00pm. You must be in line ready to weigh in by
4:00pm. NO EXCEPTIONS.
• Fish must be fresh and in edible condition. No mutilated fish will be accepted.
• Winning fish will be determined by weight. Ties will be broken by length, (lengths will be measured ac-
cording to the current Texas Parks and Wildlife Department regulations and procedures).
• Any angler weighing in a fish that does not meet The State of Texas requirements at weigh station will be
DISQUALIFIED from the tournament. NO OVER SIZED REDFISH WILL BE ACCEPTED, (Over 28
inches).
• All anglers weighing in fish will need to sign weigh cards. Anglers assume the responsibility of meeting
rules and requirements.
• All weighed fish will be marked by removing a pectoral fin.
• An angler cannot win more than one prize in any species.
• Tournament Director’s watch will be used for Official Time. There will be an announcement made at the
Captain’s Meeting at 7:30pm, Friday May 13th, 2011.
• Decisions of The Weight Master are final.

EACH PARTICIPANT IN THE FRIENDS FOR HOPE FISHING TOURNAMENT HEREBY AGREES
TO BE BOUND BY THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:

I AGREE TO RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS FRIENDS FOR HOPE, ITS OFFICERS, DIREC-
TORS, BOARD MEMBERS, AGENTS, REPRESENTATIVES, TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR, COM-
MITTEE PERSONS, TOURNAMENT SPONSORS, AND ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL OR ENTITY
AFFILIATED, TANGENTIALLY OR OTHERWISE, WITH FRIENDS FOR HOPE OR THE TOUR-
NAMENT (HEREINAFTER REFERRED TO AS “RELEASED PARTIES”), FROM ANY AND ALL
LIABILITY, CLAIMS OR DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR CONNECTED WITH THE TOURNA-
MENT, INCLUDING ITS PLANNING, OPERATION OR CONDUCT AND INCLUDING BUT NOT
LIMITED TO CLAIMS FOR PERSONAL INJURY, WRONGFUL DEATH, SURVIVAL DAMAGES,
ECONOMIC LOSS, PROPERTY DAMAGES OR CLAIMS RELATING IN ANY WAY TO THE
AWARDING OF PRIZES IN THE TOURNAMENT.

IT IS THE EXPRESS INTENTION OF THIS AGREEMENT THAT EACH TOURNAMENT

PARTICIPANT IS INDEMNIFYING THE RELEASED PARTIES FROM THE CONSE-
QUENCES OF THEIR OWN NEGLIGENT CONDUCT, WHETHER SOLE NEGLIGENCE OR
CONTRIBUTING NEGLIGENCE, GROSS NEGLIGENCE, OUTRAGEOUS MISCONDUCT,
STRICT LIABILITY, COMMISSION OF TORT, BREACH OF CONTRACT, AND BREACH OF
WARRANTY.

PARTICIPATION OF MINORS

HIDALGO COUNTY, TEXAS. THE PREVAILING PARTY IN ANY ACTION ARISING OUT
OF THE TOURNAMENT SHALL BE ENTITLED TO RECOVER ATTORNEY’S FEES AND
ALL COSTS OF COURT.
