3RD SUNDAY OF LENT

MARCH 27TH 2011
PRAYERS FOR THE DECEASED: We pray for our loved ones who have died recently
especially Rev. George Olsen, Raymond Ranger, Lillian Kelly and Nicholas Rolland.
PRAYERS FOR THE SICK AND SHUT-IN: “Let us raise up in prayer those who seek God’s healing
love, those at the hospital, hospice and at home especially Elva Curry, Joe Shubaly
and Rita Boldt. May your struggle be consoled by Christ’s love“.

† THE WAY OF THE CROSS: A word of gratitude to the C.W.L. who have taken leadership in
facilitating our Lenten exercise of communal prayer called The Way of the Cross. On Mondays
during Lent at 12:10 p.m. we gather for this time of prayer. Please feel welcome to join
others in this reflective time which makes the Passion of Jesus speak to our life today.

2011 DIOCESAN LENTEN MISSIONARY AND DEVELOPMENT COLLECTION

The Orphaned Girls of Iraq
The extreme violence of the last seven years has destroyed many families in Iraq.
The first victims are young girls. Not only have these girls lost one or both parents,
many have no extended family because of the massive exodus of Iraqi Christian families.
Holy Family Orphanage in Qaraqosh and Our Lady of Spikes Orphanage in Telkeif are
administered by the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Sienna. Despite the fact
that the Sisters are also victims of intimidation and harassment, they courageously
provide a safe home, education, tutoring and mentoring. Without this initiative, these
girls would have ended up on the streets, exposed to exploitation. The assistance of
our collection during Lent will enable the Dominican Sisters to continue providing a
home with warmth, faith and dignity to these young girls.
