ASSIGNMENT - CERTIFICATE REGISTRANTS (Submit the project done in class or as an independent work)
Each task below must be presented as a separate work and adhered to a mat board that does not to exceed 11" X 14".
Select a simple, single subject such as one of the following: flower, bud, small branch, bulb, pear or garlic.

Task 1: Sketch Page: Use colored pencil (alone or with graphite) as a sketch process - to explore the subject.
Please note that the focus for this task is the "level of connectiveness with your subject" - not the degree of "finish".

Task 2: Comparison Study: Using either the subject you selected for Task 1 or a different subject, create two small,
full-color studies rendered on two different surfaces of students' choice. Make studies life-size or slightly larger to
adequately show detail. They may be different views of the same subject, and should contain at least two distinct
textures.

Things worth exploring - for Task 2

Varied applications of colored pencil exhibiting exploration of techniques & surfaces
Different rendering techniques representing varied surface textures Effective color blending
13 Well-considered use of surround space (placement of the single image within the edges of the page)

Certificate Registrants: Please submit this assignment for a written critique and assessment. Drop off at school when
there is a scheduled class or post to the School Manager, Ellen Bennett at Brookside Gardens.
..
Due date: Two weeks after completion of this elective 3 ( .I.. .I.. ) .
