Instructions to Authors

Authors should prepare manuscripts according to the Pubh~atton Manual of the 4mertcan Psvthologt,al
lsw~tlallOll (3rd ed ) All manuscripts must include an abstract of 100-150 words typed on a separate sheet of
paper Typing instructions (all copy must be double-spaced) and mstrncuons on prepanng tables figures, references.
metrics and abstracts appear in the Manual All manuscripts are subject to editing for seMst language The Journal
also pubhshes a "'Brief Commumcatlons'" section (Papers for this section should be so labeled and must not
exceed 2 000 words of text and 2 figures or tables ) In order to ensure hlgh-quahty reproduction of photomicro-
graphs m Behavtmal Neuro~uence, selected photomicrographs that appear in text as figures are repeated as plates
on coated photographic quahty paper m a specml section added to issues as needed For photomicrographs
selected for th~s treatment, the Editor will ask the author to supply two glossy original pnnts
APA pohcy prohibits an author from submitting the same manuscript for concurrent consideration by two or
more journals APA pohcy also prohibits duphcate pubhcatlon, that is, publication of a manuscript that has
already been pubhshed m whole or m substantml part in another journal Prior and duphcate pubhcatlon
constitutes unethical behavior, and authors have an obhgatlon to consult journal editors if there ts any chance or
question that the paper m~ght not be statable for pubhcation m an APA journal Authors of manuscripts submitted
to APA journals are expected to have available their raw data throughout the editorial rewew process and for at
least 5 years after the date of pubhcatlon
Authors wdl be reqmred to state m writing that they have comphed w~th APA ethical standards m the treatment
of their sample human or ammal, or to describe the detads of treatment A copy of the APA Ethical Pnnclples
may be obtained from the APA Ethics Office, 1200 17th Street, N W , Washington, D C 20036
Manuscripts should be submmed m quadruplicate, and all copies should be clear, readable, and on paper of
good quahty A dot matrix or unusual typeface ~s acceptable only ff it is clear and legible Authors should keep a
