Useful Biodome Facts and Calculations

Biodome is half a sphere

Ground section goes down vertically like a column slice below the ground level
1 cubic metre equals 1000 litres
Ground level surface area 7,000 metres squared
Radius of biodome 47 metres 36 metres would be sufficient to enclose all the trees but maybe extra area needed for crops, pond etc.
Jessica suggests height of biodome is 100 metres tall But the radius is only 47 metres so the maximum height only needs to 47 metres

Total Volume of half-spherical biodome (4/3*r*r*r*PI/2)220,339 metres cubed

Total Volume of half-spherical biodome ### litres

22 trees required for one person

Area of space for one tree 9 metres squared http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_much_oxygen_does_one_tree_produce
Trees per human 22
Total trees 462 one tree needs 4m by 4m floor space
Total floor space for trees in biodome 4,158 metres squared

So just over half the biodome would need to be trees to produce enough oxygen if only trees were used for human oxygen consumption. Maybe it is too big?
Other plants etc would be essential for food chains etc so they could cover photosynthetic requirements for everything else
But concrete would be likely to be used for construction and that absorbs CO2 permenantly so something would be needed to counter balance this. Or use concrete which has already absorbed CO2 to the maximum.
Or bring in regular supplies or mine something from planet surface outside to release trapped CO2 e.g. Calcium carbonate

Number of humans (1 = few chickens) 21 1 http://health.howstuffworks.com/question98.htm

The average adult at rest inhales and exhales something like 7 or 8 liters (about one-fourth of a cubic foot) of air per minute. That totals
Volume of air changed in lungs 1 1 something like 11,000 liters of air (388 cubic feet) in a day.
The air that is inhaled is about 20-percent oxygen, and the air that is exhaled is about 15-percent oxygen, so about 5-percent of the
volume of air is consumed in each breath and converted to carbon dioxide. Therefore, a human being uses about 550 liters of pure
