INDO-GERMAN ENERGY PROGRAMME @ evonik DECEMBER 2009 GUIDELINES FOR ENERGY AUDITING OF PULVERISED COAL/LIGNITE FIRED THERMAL POWER PLANTS INDO-GERMAN ENERGY PROGRAMME ©@ evonix DECEMBER 2009 Rakesh Nath Chairperson Central Electricity Authority & Ex-officio Secretary to Government of India Foreword Energy Efficiency is a key for sustainable development. Energy Conservation Act 2001 provides legal framework and institutional arrangement for promotion of Energy Efficiency. The Act provides for Energy Audit of designated consumers. Thermal Power stations have been declared designated consumers. The Energy Audit of Thermal Power Station is a complex process comprising of various processes and sub-systems requiring specialized skill to conduct Energy Auditin different areas of power stations. Indo German Energy Program (IGEN) has provided us an opportunity for seamless research and disseminating knowledge in the area of technology, process and manpower development connected with all aspects of thermal power station. | am happy to note that Guidelines for Energy Auditing of Thermal Power Plants have been brought out under the IGEN Programme. lam sure this would prove to be amile stone in achieving Energy Efficiency in thermal power stations and would be made use of by various stake holders in the country to have uniform approach in carrying outthe energy audit of coal/lignite based thermal power stations.
