Chapter4 System Operation

4.1 Login and Lock

In order to discern every user's authority, prevent users from going beyond one's commission、using some functions and influencing the normal work of

the system, we specially set up the login and lock function for system.

4.1.1Keystroke Lock/Unlock

The option “Keylock” is under the network interface. After making the option on and storing the change, press the “DN” on the remote controller to lock

the keystroke. In this situation, all of the keystroke on the remote controller and front board are locked but the power key.

The method of releasing the keylock is to press the “DN” key on the remote controller, input the corresponding DN (DN can be set by yourself, the range

is 0~99,and the primary DN is 33. When you forget the device number, you can reset the code operation, because this operation will make the “Keylock”

unavailable. Code reset operation meet the 4.8.2——the “system password”), and press “enter” key, so all of the keystroke on the remote controller and the

front panel are released and can be used normally. When you don’t set the “Keylock”, the remote controller and the front panel can be used normally.

45
4.1.2 System Login

When the system is in the state of locking, press the“ ”button on the front panel or the “LOGIN/LOCK” button on the remote controller for about 1

second, the interface of login will appear as follows:

Input user name and password on the login interface (distribute in authority in advance), after you input correct user name and password and press

“ENTER”, the sign “ ” on the lower left corner will switch to “ User” automatically, and show the user name of current user nearby. Then you can

carry on the operations in your own authority.

About the input:some keys of number can input characters when edit, for example: press the key 2 for 7 times, the display will be 2,A,B,C,a,b,c.

46
4.1.3 System Lock

When the system is in the state of login,if there is no operation in 5 minutes or you press the“ ”button of the front panel or the “LOGIN/LOCK”

button on the remote controller for about 1 second, the sign “ User” on the lower left corner will switch to“ ”automatically. You can only do the

operations such as login、set DN and switch scene format and so on at the moment.

4.2 Video Parameter Setup

4.2.1 Channel Video Parameter Adjusting

The video parameter of each channel can be adjusted in order to adapt to different environments. The adjustable parameter is: brightness, contrast,

saturation and hue.

4.4 Record and Alarm schedule

Explanations for controlling record:

The system has 4 record trigger ways: ⑴ Manual record ⑵ Time record ⑶ Motion record ⑷ Alarm record. The priority of the 4 ways is from low to

high. Whether a certain channel is at the state of recording is synthetically based on the 4 record ways. System will open the channel ’s record as long as any

of the 4 ways is on.

51
4.4.1 Record Parameter Setting

Record parameter will not change along with the way of record. So it’s important to set the record parameters before recording, for it concerns with the

definition of record and the disk space that the record would use. After login, through “SETUP”、“Param” continuous button operations to enter the record

parameters interface. The interface is as follows (Take the 16 channels machine for example):

● Over Write mode

52
It’s used to select the over write mode of HD: Auto or Manual, and it would simultaneously affect all the channels.

(1)Auto: When the hard disk is recorded fully, this mode will automatically overlay the oldest record files.

(2)Manual: When the hard disk is recorded fully, this mode will automatically prompt you whether to overlay the oldest record files or change the HD

(Note: there will be no records during the period that from flipping cue to pressing “ENTER”. So in order to prevent record losing, we don’t commend you to

choose “Manual”.)

● Language

System provides two languages, you can choose the language according to your personal need.

After you change the language, system will prompt you to reboot. The setup wouldn ’t take effect until the system has rebooted.

03:Why I can’t make timer record (schedule record)?

03:① Please check if you have corrected set the schedules. There are two period of time, please make sure the first time period is before the second

one, and the time must be in a day, from 00:00 to 23:59. ② Please check if power supply was cut off in the scheduled time periods? ③The data you need is

covered.④There are something wrong with HD, so that the data can’t be updated.

128
04:Why system gets very slow when searching for hard disk data?

04:This is possible when you are using motion detection or alarm record modes that may make system switching between recording and non-recording

states, therefore create too many data segments. So the DVR needs a longer time to search all the segments. In this case, you need only wait for a longer time.

05:Why I cannot make motion detection record?

05:① Please check the motion detection record schedule setting. There are two periods. The first one shall be ahead of the second one. ② Please check

if you have correctly selected the motion detection areas. ③ Maybe caused by too low a sensitivity. Try to increase the motion detection sensitivity.

06:Why cannot I make alarm record?

06:①Please check the alarm record schedule setting. There are two periods. The first one shall be ahead of the second one. ②Please refer to the alarm

record setup window to check if the alarm linkage channels are well set. ③ please check if the sensors are well mounted.

07:Why the recorded videos are not continuous?

07:① In case you are applying manual record or timer record mode, please check if power supply was cut off in the pe riod. ② In case you are applying

motion detection or alarm record mode, as system only records after the motion or alarm happens and lasts for a specific time and stops recording. So the

recorded files may not continuous.

129
08:Why auto recording mode (recycling record mode) doesn’t work?

08:Firstly please make sure your hard disks are in good condition. ① Check if you have set over write mode as ‘Auto’ in record parameter setup menu.

② Please check the hard disks for any errors, i.e. Logistic error or physical error.

09:How to backup data and burn CDs?

09:① Create a backup partition on a hard disk, and then press Backup button to run backup function to copy files to the backup partition. ② Use the

client manager software to backup DVR data to the PC and burn CD by a burner. Note: please copy the client manager software together with the video data,

so be convenient to playback.

10:Why there is no action when clicking the backup through the client end program?

10:Check whether open the fireproofing wall or not. If it’s so, this open will cause the data in the host computer can’t be backup by the program of

client end.

11:Why there is no data on the backup list when display that backup OK?

11:The host computer can’t backup the record in 15 minutes.(For example: it’s 12:00 now, so you can’t backup the data from11:45 to 12:00).

12:Why the time of the playback suddenly jump over?

130
12:This state is usually caused by rectifying the time. So you should confirm whether the data should be stored before rectifying time.

13:Why there is seriously mosaic when playback?

13:Please check whether exist bad fan of the HD or not? If it’s logistic error, you can format the disk; if it’s physical error, please change the HD.

14:Why the record are so slow when playback?

14:①Check whether the DVR is on the slowly play state or not. Our DVR support slowly playback on 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 of the normal speed. ②Please

check whether the HD link line is OK or not, and whether there is bad fan in HD.

15:Why there is some dithering when play or playback?

15:①Set the recorder and vidicon to the same mode. (PAL or NTSC). ②take off the HD and check whether the HD link OK or not?

(E) Alarm, PTZ control

01:How to connect sensor to the system?

01:Our system supports general sensors, e.g. smoke sensor, IR sensor, and supports normal open and normal close working modes. ① In case your

sensing equipments are of high power consumption, to avoid damaging the alarm output module, please make relay extension connection. ② In case you are

131
using high frequency equipments, e.g. High frequency lights please make relay extension connection method, or alarm module may not work properly.

02:How to connect multiple PTZ cameras, or PT devices?

02:① Please make star connection method: Connect multiple controlling lines (RS485) in parallel connection, and set addresses properly. ② Bus

connection: Connect 485+ and 485- to the DVR’s 485+ and 485- pins, and connect the next DVR’s 485+ and 485- to the first DVR’s 485+ and 485-. You may

need to add a terminal resistance. Please read the P/T unit manual.

03:I opened motion alarm and sensor alarm, but I got misinformation frequently. Why?

03:Please check and set motion detection sensitivity properly. (Motion detection is sensing motion by light intensity. In case you set it very high

sensitivity, day & night changing may trigger an alarm)

04:The system didn’t make alarm when certain video losses. Why?

04:Please check if you have set video loss alarm in Channel setup.

05:Why I cannot clear the alarms?

05:You can only clear the alarms with the IR remoter. Press Clear button and input password, and then press Enter to clear alarms.

132
06:Why I cannot control PT devices, e.g. speed dome?

06:① Please check whether you have connected 485 controlling line to DVR correctly. ②Please check DVR settings, i.e. protocol, bard rate are set the

same as the PT device. ③Check whether the address code is the same with the DVR channel setting.

07:More than one DVR can’t control one PTZ, why?

07: ①Check whether 485 line has been connected to the DVR correctly. ②Check whether the PTZ protocol and baud rate are the same with DVR.

③Check whether the address code is the same with the DVR channel setting. If no, please set it again and then test. ④Open the “Use RS485 device keyboard

address” under the “network”.

(F)Recover default passwords, system upgrade

01:How to restore power password and administrator password to default values?

01:Turn off the DVR and open the upper cover. Look for the J4 jumper and make close circuit to ‘Password Clear’ pins. Turn on the DVR and you will

hear the buzzer rings to remind you that system has successfully restored password. Turn off the DVR, and remove the close circuit cap to original place. Till

now, system has restore passwords to factory default.

133
02:How to make upgrade to the DVR?
