PARTIAL PRETERISTIC HERMENEUTICS

Biblical Support for Early Fulfillment

(The Texts)

The New Testament seems abundantly clear that Christ was coming in
judgment and it would be very soon. So soon, in fact, that some of the one’s
hearing Jesus speak would still be around...

MATTHEW:

"Truly I say to you, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel until the Son of
Man comes."
-Matt. 10:23

"Truly I say to you, there are some who are standing here who will not taste death until
they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom."
-Matt. 16:28

"Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place."
-Matt. 24:34

"You [the high priest] will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven."
-Matt. 26:64

MARK:

“If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the
Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy
angels. And he said to them, “Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste
death before they see that the kingdom of God has come with power.”
-Mark 8:38-9:1

glory....Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things
have happened.”
-Mark 13:26, 30
LUKE:

“Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the
kingdom of God.”

“As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another;
every one of them will be thrown down...Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not
pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my
words will never pass away.”
-Luke 21:6, 32, 33

PAUL:

"You know what hour it is, how it is full time now for you to wake from sleep. For
salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed; the night is far gone, the day is
at hand."
-Romans 13:11, 12

“Brethren, the appointed time has grown very short; from now on, let those who have
wives live as though they had none, and those who mourn as though they were not
mourning, and those who rejoice as though they were not rejoicing, and those who buy as
though they had no goods, and those who deal with the world as though they had no
dealings with it. For the form of this world is passing away."
-I Corinthians 7:29-31
