Synthesis Essay

The advancement of technology in our society has brought us a plethora of new

opportunities and intelligence for us to learn and educate by. However, these

advancements have acquired a new generation of thumb strong, gossip column

psychotics. Although these new technological achievements have bestowed great

distractions, they have also given us an endless possibility to bring knowledge to students

like text books never could, technology in our schools is a great contribution and will

bring a great age of well educated, and a well informed civilization. The integration of

these technologies would insure the up to date education of students, much improved

communication between students and teachers, and finally greatly increase the

intelligence level of all classrooms using this technology.

As the students from Empire High School can attest, laptops in the classroom are

very beneficial and not only provide a up to date educational source, but a exciting way

to learn, in the “Books Are Out, iBooks Are In for Students at Arizona High School” by

Arthur H. Rotstein. Opposed to using textbooks that if need to be updated could take a

number of year, as the laptops can take merely minutes to get instant information to the

eager minds of today’s students. Although in source E Gelernter says that internet cannot

be controlled, the benefits out weigh the derogatory information on the internet by a

landslide.
The technology introduced into the class rooms not only improved the rate in

which students receive and saturate information, but it also brought a new era of

communications to teachers, student, and parents. Kevin J. Delany posted an article in the

Wall Street Journal about this new network of sharing and growing of thoughts and ideas

between students, helping them absorb not only what the teachers has taught them, but

the creativity of their fellow pupils.

Although writing with pen and paper is becoming inferior, the knowledge of the

entire world, of every classroom can be shared on one infinite database of knowledge.

Knowledge that can be brought into classrooms to help educate children to insure that

they will be more intelligent then the ones before so they can provide the next age of

learners with even more, and advanced information that will be used to provide

prosperity, and a better way of life for all on earth. As introduced in source C, the new

advancements of modern culture has not only given us more resources for education, but

provided more time to pursue such studies because of the easier life technology had given

us.

Why continue to travel on a journey of advancements, if we only aim to shoot

down everything new or different idea that could very much change our way of life.

Steven Johnston said in his print, Interface Culture: How New Technology Transforms

the Way We Create and Communicate, that with computers and technology in classrooms

we can keep the minds of children persistent and eager to learn everything they can about

the world, to go on a journey throughout the galaxy within the detainments of their

fortified classrooms.
