STEP1:
Click on Start button
Control Panel
Note: Make sure you are on the classic view to allow easier setup. (To
switch to classic view: Click on Classic view by the left pane/side of the
control panel’s window)
Open Phone and Modem Options
Enter a numeric figure e.g. ‘1’, in case you’re prompted to enter an area
code.
Click on modems tab
Click Add button (click on continue to grant permission)
Select don’t detect my modem; I will select it from a list
Click on Next and wait patiently for a display of a list of modems
From Standard modem types, select Standard 19200bps modem
Click on Next
From selected ports, select COM1 or the port number your serial cable is
installed to. (ref: PAGE 3)
Click on Next
Click on FINISH
From the modem tab on the phone and modem options’ window,
select/click on Standard 19200bps modem
Click on properties
Click on Change settings button (click on continue to grant permission)
From the newly opened window;
Click on Modem tab
Set Maximum port speed to 115200
Click on Advanced tab
Enter the following at the Extra initialization commands box:
AT+CRM=1;$LGPKT=3
Click on OK button.
Step 2:
Go to Control panel
Open Network and Sharing Centre
Click on Set up a connection or network
From ‘Choose a connection option’ window, click on set up a dial-up
connection
Click on Next
Select Standard 19200bps modem
Dial-up phone number: #777
Enter your username and password
Connection name: MULTILINKS
You may choose/select Allow other people to use this connection
(click on continue to grant permission)
Click on Connect button
DO NOT click on Skip nor Cancel button, allow ‘The internet
connectivity test was unsuccessful’ error message to come up
then click on set up the connection anyway
Click Close button
From Control panel, reopen network and sharing centre
Click on Manage network connections
Right click on MULTILINKS connection
Click on Properties
Click on continue to grant permission
From the General tab, make sure Standard 19200bps modem is
the only selected/checked modem
Choose/click on it to select the modem
Click on Configure button
Set the maximum speed(bps) to 115200
Click on OK
Click on options tab
Uncheck or make sure that prompt for phone number is not
selected/checked.
Click on Ok to exit
Right click on the Multilinks connection
Click on ‘Create shortcut’
Click on ‘Yes’ to accept placement
Go to your desktop to confirm placement.
PAGE 3:
INSTALLATION OF USB TO SERIAL CONVERTER
Method 1:
Locate the USB to serial converter driver from your given disk
Open the folder and double click on it to install the software
Click on continue to grant permission for the installation
Follow the steps to get the software installed
After a successful installation, connect the USB cable to your
computer.
The Cable will be auto installed.
NOTE: you will have to always use the particular port to which the
cable is connected to as your connecting port.
You will need to confirm you port number as you will need it during
the course of installation.
TO CONFIRM INSTALLTION AND PORT NUMBER
• Open ‘CONTROL PANEL’
• Open ‘Device Manager’
• Click on continue to permit continuation
• From ‘Device Manager’ window
• Locate and expand ‘Ports (COM&LPT)’
• Note the port to which the cable is installed to
(e.g. USB to serial converter - COM4; COM4 is
the port to which the cable is installed to)
• Exit device manager
• Then start or continue the configuration.
