Standing tall at the heart of Islamabad OGDCL Head office is one of the pioneering modern mid-rise
buildings of Pakistan. Constructed on the corporate sector of Jinnah Avenue in Blue area, Islamabad, it is
amongst the most recognized architectural masterpieces of its time.

Designed by Nayyar Ali Dada and Associates (NADA), one of Pakistan’s leading and most prestigious
Lahore based firm. Nayyar Ali Dada and Associates planned the building in 1992 and it took two years to
complete.

Comprising of four octagonal towers all working as office buildings. The structure consists of 21 floors
and stands at a height of 170 ft.. Three basement floors lead to only 16 floors towering over the ground. A
feature in this building is the heli-pad at the roof of the tallest eastern tower.

The building is constructed of rein enforced concrete and steel structure. And the façade of a high- class
terrazzo pre-cast panels pertaining with the octagonal form. The octagonal shape was provided such that
the offices may benefit from multiple fenestration points allowing cross-ventilation and light sources. The
shape also allowed for several views from and to the towers.

The planning of the building was such that it hosted central cubicles on the floors however during
implementation the deign changed and office rooms were hence constructed along the sides and thus no
longer could the whole floor benefit from these natural light sources.
The interior of certain floor was done individually for example the drilling section of the building, it was
designed by Edifice.

The covered area is approximately 330,000sqft. and the project cost nearly Rs.280 million. The designed
parking can cater to approximately 120 cars.

The construction company Interhom limited is again a Lahore based construction company. It specializes
in reinforced and pre-fab concrete structures which was the basic requirement for the mid-rise
construction.

Its civil electrical and mechanical works were completed by an Islamabad based firms, 3w Systems.

The building stands on the Jinnah Avenue with the Shaheed-e-Millat building on towards its East and
UBL towards its West. Amongst other famous mid-rise buildings such as the State Life of Pakistan
building, Habib Bank, Saudi Pak towers, and the NIC towers, it is now beginning to lose its allure as
newer and more modern buildings are coming into scope. On the corporate sector, the downtown of
Islamabad the skyline consists of numerous and ever increasing mid to high- rise buildings.
