Old media.

The term old media differ from one place to another place due to the advance in economy
and existence of culture preservation. Every society which steps forward socially,
politically and economically also culture interaction continues to expand.

For example in African countries still there are some elements of non verbal
communication which used to symbolize the culture and some societies events. Example
Zaramo people of east Africa use dram and local dance (Mdundiko) to assemble people
in the ceremony, Nyakyusa tribe use to shave head bald to show the death for the relative
and Malila tribe use local stones to show concern to the relative after dearth by putting
three stones over the tomb.

In developed countries especially Europe and America, The term old media or legacy
media are traditional means of communication and expression that have existed since
before the advent of the new medium of the Internet. Industries that are generally
considered part of the old media are broadcast and cable television, radio, movie and
music studios, newspaper, magazine, books and most print publications.

Social media.
(Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Social media are media for social interaction, using highly accessible and scalable
communication techniques. Social media is the use of web-based and mobile
technologies to turn communication into interactive dialogue.

Andreas Kaplan and Michael Haenlein define social media as "a group of Internet-based
applications that build on the ideological and technological foundations of Website which
allows the creation and exchange of user-generated content.”Businesses” may also refer
to social media as consumer-generated media, (CGM). A common thread running
through all definitions of social media is a blending of technology and social interaction
for the co-creation of value.

Social media may have been integral to the Arab revolutions and revolts of 2011.As one
Cairo activist succinctly put it, "“We use Face book to schedule the protests, Twitter to
coordinate, and You Tube to tell the world." However, there is some debate about the
extent to which social media facilitate this kind of change.
New media

"new media" as interactive forms of communication that use the Internet, including podcasts, RSS feeds, social

networks, text messaging, blogs, wikis, virtual worlds and more!

New media makes it possible for anyone to create, modify, and share content and share it with others, using relatively

simple tools that are often free or inexpensive. New media requires a computer or mobile device with Internet access.

New media tools can help you:

• CONNECT people with information and services. This includes connecting individuals with

healthcare providers and people living with HIV with one another. New media can also connect the

families, friends, and caregivers of people living with HIV ands AIDS to resources for their loved ones

and themselves.

• COLLABORATE with other people—including those within your organization or community.

• CREATE new content, services, communities, and channels of communication that help you

deliver information and services.

What do the Federal government, state and local health departments, AIDS service organizations, and individuals

looking for information on HIV and AIDS have in common? They are all using new media tools to connect,

collaborate, and create around HIV information and resources.

For examples of people using new media tools to respond to HIV, visit the AIDS.gov blog.
