The Carolina Slate Belt was actively mined from the early 1800's through
known historic belt:
the 1930’s and has been left largely underexplored by modern techniques.
The Slate Belt hosts most of the area’s past producing gold mines, notably
• Loflin: 70m avg 1.10g/t Au and
Ridgeway (1.5 Moz) and Barite Hill (1.88 Moz). Also in the Slate Belt is 30m avg 2.59g/t Au
South Carolina’s Haile Mine with an estimated 4.2Moz.
