1- CSWIP 3.0 Visual Welding Inspector

Duration: 24 hrs.
Course Content
Visual inspection procedure; relevant codes of practice, term and definitions; welding
processes and typical welding defects; weld measurements; typical documentation and
requirements; practical inspection and reporting.

2- CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector

Duration: 72 hrs.
Course Content
The duties and responsibilities of a welding inspector; fusion welding process; typical
weld defects; types of steel; carbon-manganese, low alloy and stainless steel; hardening
of steel; weldability; heat treatment; parent metal defects; visual inspection; testing parent
metal and welds; destructive tests, NDT techniques; welder and procedure approval;
codes and standards; outline of safe working practices; practice in examination questions;
continues and end-of-course assessment.

3- BGAS-CSWIP Painting Inspector – Grade 3/2

Duration: 56 hrs.
Course Content
Corrosion theory; surface preparation; paint formulation; paint systems; curing and
drying; paint manufacture; application methods; paint/paint film testing; paint
identification; inspection methods; specification requirements; health and safety; working
practices.

4- CSWIP Plant Inspector Level 1- Week 1

Duration: 0 hrs.
Course Content
Roles and duties of the Plant Inspector; QA/inspection in context; inspection safety; bacic
inspection skills; legislation, rules, regulation; inspection of materials; visual examination
of welds; inspection and NDT; introduction to corrosion.
5- CSWIP Plant Inspector Level 1- Week 2

Duration: 0 hrs.
Course Content
Roles and duties of the Plant Inspector; the use of codes and standards; inspection of
welding; inspection of pressure vessels; inspection of pipework systems; inspecting
storage tanks; inspection of rubber/GRP lining; introduction to risk-based inspection;
inspection reporting.

6- Rick-Based Inspection (RBI), Based on API RP580

Duration: 32 hrs.
Course Content
The course is aimed at inspection, maintenance and engineering staff who are likely to
participate in RBI assessment projects on pressure system, pipelines, boilers and storage
tanks, and who are likely to lead RBI assessment teams. The course material includes:
RBI in accordance with API BRD 581 Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3; reasons for
implementation of RBI; benefits of using RBI; practical implementation of RBI; planning
successful RBI implementation projects; practical likelihood and consequence analysis;
preparing inspection plans and optimizing maintenance and inspection intervals;
implementing risk mitigation actions; detailed RBI assessment software exercises.

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

8- Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)

Duration: 24 hrs.
Course Content
Materials, methods, compatibility of materials, equipment and safety aspects; practical
exercise; methods of assessing sensitivity; instruction writing and application.

9- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)

Duration: 24 hrs.
Course Content
Principle of magnetism; magnetic fields; induction; permeability and reluctance;
magnetization; lines of force, methods of testing; interpretation of indications;
demagnetization; practical exercises; methods of assessing sensitivity; instruction writing.
10- Radiographic Interpretation (RTI)

Duration: 40 hrs.
Course Content
Designed for personnel responsible for judging the quality of radiograph and reaching the
identity and extent of the defects revealed. Principles of X-and gamma-radiography;
equipment; safety; selection of films and screens; exposure; processing; characteristics of
the image; choice of technique; relevant standards; sensitivity.

11- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)

Duration: 72 hrs.
Course Content
Welding processes and weld defects; basic principles of ultrasonics; the flaw detector;
practical exercises on test specimens containing simulated flaws; examination of parent
plate, butt welds; instruction writing.
