ILO course focusing on creating better jobs through sustainable enterprises

The International Labour Organisation (ILO) is offering a two-week course aimed at creating “more and better jobs through
sustainable enterprises”
The course, which targets public and private sector officials, academics, entrepreneurs and representatives of business
organisations, is part of the ILO’s Summer Academy Programme. It will look at four thematic areas: developing markets with a
focus on value chains; inclusive business development; enabling environment for the development of small businesses and
financial services relative to sustainable business development.
The two-week programme will be offered in French, Spanish, English and Arabic. Registration deadline is May 23, 2011.

Call for proposals re: intra-ACP academic mobility scheme

Higher education institutions (HEIs) wanting to participate in the intra-ACP academic mobility scheme should submit their
proposals by May 6. The scheme which promotes cooperation and mobility between HEIs is building on the African Union’s
Mwalimu Nyerere programme for Africa by setting up a similar scheme for the Caribbean and Pacific regions. The scheme
focuses on staff of HEIs as well as master and doctoral students. Further information is available at website:

A Trinidad-based Caribbean company, Bilingual Agency Consultants, is offering business related services in English and
Spanish. The services include translation, interpretation, business facilitation and market research.

Deadline for OAS scholarship applications approaching
Permanent residents and citizens of OAS member states should apply as soon as possible for OAS scholarships to pursue
degrees for the 2012-2013 academic year. The scholarships are available to under graduate and graduate students as well
as those conducting graduate research leading to a degree.

Interest-free loans are also being granted under the Rowe Fund for students studying in the United States. The funding
will cover part of the tuition fees, living expenses or emergencies not met under the student’s main financing source. For

Funding for innovative ICT projects

The Caribbean Regional Office of the Caribbean Centre for Development of Enterprise is calling for proposals for its
Innovative ICT Cluster Programme. The programme offers funding for innovative ICT projects.
