Gelscan 5 in 10 minutes

1. Please press the the following button. On the left side you can see some example "Files" of gels. Please
open "Gel-4.bmp". Please quit the next small window (“Type of gel”) with the Ok Button.
By holding the left Mouse button pressed, please draw a rectangle,starting from the upper left corner to the right
corner at the end of the lane (picture a).

button go. All further lanes will be installed in the
same way

By using the trash you can delete all procedures. You can delete single rectangles with this button.
The follwing button allows to create new rectangles.

2. Calculation: After drawing rectangles please press the button with the green arrow ,
Now you have finished your first calculation. With the following buttons you can
add or delete single bands manually. Please change also the sensitivity
Marked bands
(red number). For recalculation, please press the green arrow again.

3. Graphic: Change into graphic register. Now you can see the graphic of the first lane.
You can move the black brackets with the mouse cursor to find a better position.
To display the value of density on top of the peak, please activate the "DID"-field .
To see the graphic of the further lanes, please use the "First" Scrollbar.
You also have the posibility to compare two lanes. If you activate the "Two"-field, you can
directly compare all lanes with the"Second"-Scrollbar.

4. Background: By pressing these buttons the background will be visualised and calculated. You will find
more Background routines in the Background register. The Resultregister shows all values of the complete
calculation.

5. GelManagement: Creates automatic GLP- protocols. Please press "Protocols" in the

header and select "Gelmanagement". On the left side please activate "Picture" to "Results".
Please type now a headline and press Ok. Now, Gelscan generates a complete formated
protocol of all data. Please wait until the protocol is written.

6. Storing data: Please select the following button an press "New". After inscribing your gel please press
the "Save" button. After pressing the „Load“ button, all data will be restored in Gelscan software .

7. Manual: Gelscan contains a complete Manual .You need an Acrobat Reader™ (pdf) to open the online-manual.
After installation of an Acrobat Reader you will find the manual under „Help “ and “Online-Manual”.
