SUMMER TRIPS 2010 OUR COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

Kings” (Parkwood Estate Mansion), and “A Wild Adventure” (Toronto Zoo). -George William Curtis-
Afrofest, July 10th On June 30th St. Clair West Services for Seniors hosted its biggest community event. Over 200 seniors
participated in a day that included mixing and mingling, singing and dancing, acting and cheering, and eating
and drinking. This enthusiastic group of seniors from all over the globe, proved two things: having fun is
universal, and ‘age is a matter of feeling, not years’. Thank you to all who assisted in the planning, baking,
performing and enjoying. Thank you to Councillor Frances Nunziata, and MPPs Laura Albanese and Mike
Colle, for bringing good wishes. MPP Albanese led the group in the singing of the National Anthem. Last but
not least, enormous gratitude goes to our gracious hosts from the Learning Enrichment Foundation for
providing us with such a beautiful space to hold our colourful celebration.

now come together to talk some more.
In a great discussion, led by facilitator Sandy Wong, tenants
discussed what was accomplished to make their vision of a
friendlier, safer Roselwn/Marlee a reality. One of the activities
that got the conversation flowing was an exercise where small
groups had to design a vessel out of straws and tape that would protect an egg from breaking when thrown
from up high. The groups named their eggs – Unity, Faith, and Love - and talked about their need as a group
to protect these things. When all was said and done, Unity broke, Faith cracked but as Ms. Evelyn proudly
