Clark Memorial United Methodist Church To Host Women’s Day Weekend


in May

Who: Women on the path to “Finding, Giving and Living Peace”

What: Women‟s Day Weekend at Clark Memorial UMC


Women‟s Day Weekend - an annual event recognizing the contributions women
have made to religion, worship and the community at large. This year‟s theme
“Finding, Giving and Living Peace” will provide participants the opportunity to
take care of themselves through pampering, rejoicing, reflecting and worshipping.

When: Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15

Saturday, May 14, 2011: Day of Peace


10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a Day of Peace with a “mini” day at
the Spa, complete with facials, massages, „mini‟ manicures, and health tips!

Sunday, May 15, 2011: Worship Services

8:00 a.m. Speaker: Janice Woodard, is a certified Lay Speaker with the
United Methodist Church and immediate past Chairperson of Christian
Education & Discipleship Ministry and has served as a member of our Church
Council.

10:45 a.m. Speaker: M. Garlinda Burton, general secretary of the General


Commission on the Status and Role of Women, United Methodist Church

About Clark Memorial United Methodist Church – Clark Memorial UMC is “A

About Janice Woodard, is a certified Lay Speaker with the


United Methodist Church and immediate past Chairperson of Christian Education
& Discipleship Ministry and has served as a member of our Church Council. She
provides support for our Grief Recovery Ministry. She helped develop the “Well of
Living Water” curriculum for the Spiritual Formation Ministry area. She further
teaches church school for our Youth and is involved in the Youth Council. She is
an active participant in our Vacation Bible School each year.

About M. Garlinda Burton is general secretary of the General


Commission on the Status and Role of Women for the United Methodist Church.
She is a journalist, editor, speaker, advocate and motivator. Ms. Burton is a
specialist in racial and gender issues in the media, academia, church and corporate
life, and she frequently conducts training for media professionals, educators,
businesses and church leaders on combating sexism, classism and racism.
