KNOWN ISSUES
1. If you create a VirusScan Enterprise installation package with an invalid .ms
p patch, the installation package file (Setup.exe) fails. Until McAfee Installat
ion Designer has the ability to verify the validity of patches, be sure that all
.msp patches included in an installation package are valid.
2. If you create an installation for VirusScan Enterprise 8.8, be sure the sourc
e version is 8.8 and not an earlier one. If you select 8.7 for the source by mis
take, an alert message tells you there is a version mismatch. However, correctin
g the mistake does not remove the block on the configuration settings that the m
ismatch imposes, and you cannot continue. If this occurs, discard this package a
nd create a new one.
3. The error IDS_MID_CONFIG_FAILED (0006) might be logged to the Application Eve
nt log when installing a VirusScan package that has been modified by McAfee Inst
allation Designer.
The error occurs if a registry key is not yet created when the custom settings a
re applied. Up to four attempts are made to apply the settings, where each failu
re results in another Event log entry. Less than 4 log entries means the setting
s were successfully applied.
4. Before installing a MID installation package for VirusScan Enterprise 8.8 on
Microsoft Windows 2000 Server SP4 systems the McAfee Agent 4.0 must be installed
prior to running the installation.
5. MID installation packages should not be installed on Universal Naming Convent
ion (UNC) shared folders.
6. An Evaluation dialog appears when you start to install the VirusScan Enterpri
se 8.8 Evaluation upgrade to the Licensed package. Once the upgrade installation
is complete the package is upgraded to a Licensed version.
