Account Manager Utility

The CONTROL-M Option for the R/3 Account Manager utility is used to
define user accounts that are authorized to work with CONTROL-M
Option for R/3 on the R/3 Client machine. The Account Manager utility
is the same for both Standard and Extended modules.

Note
The procedure shown below describes how to work with user accounts
by using a set of Account Manager menus. In addition to these menus,
certain actions can be requested directly from the command line (without
requiring navigation of the Account Manager menus). For more
information about these special command lines, see “Account Manager
Shortcuts” below.

Note
For Windows Users: Before defining a new account, the following path
<r3 installation full path>/exe must be added to your environment.

To invoke the Account Manager utility:

Step 1 Log in to the machine and go to the following directory:

<controlm interface directory>/r3/exe/

Step 2 Specify the following command:

ctm_r3_acc_man

Step 3 The Account Manager Main menu is displayed:

1) Set Administrator Password

Step 4 To add user accounts, select option 2 from the Main menu. The following
screen is displayed:

Add Account
Enter Account Name or leave blank for cancel
Account Name :user1

Step 5 Enter an Account name. The Account name has no connection to either
the operating system login name or SAP login name.

Step 6 After you press Enter, a screen similar to the following is displayed:

1) controlm 2) user1
Enter q for quit or number 1 -> 2 for add-template : 1

The Account Manager allows you to copy account details from one user
account (template) to another.

If you specify q to exit the screen, you will need to specify details for the
new account using option 3, Change/Show R/3 Account, on the Main
menu.

Step 7 Specify the account to copy and press Enter. A details screen similar to
the following is displayed:

Specify the number of each detail you wish to change. You are prompted
for the required information. Specify Save (s) to save the details for the
account. Even if you do not make any changes to the copied template,
you must specify Save to save the account details.

Specify Quit (q) to exit the screen. You can return to this screen, at any
time, by selecting option 3, Change/Show R/3 Account, from the main
menu.

Step 8 To verify that an account has been logged in to R/3, that the system
exists, or that the client machine is connected, select option 5, “Check
R/3 Account”, from the main menu. A screen similar to the following is
displayed.

Specify the account to check and press Enter. Messages similar to the
following are displayed.

Step 9 Press Enter to continue, and press q to exit the “Select Account” screen.

Step 10 Select Quit (q) to exit the Account Manager.

Account Manager Shortcuts

Certain special command lines enable you to perform Account Manager


tasks without requiring navigation of the Account Manager menus.

To list minimal information about user accounts:

Use the following command line to list basic information about either a
specified account, or a list of accounts in the specified file.

./ctm_r3_acc_man -list <account-names-file>

For example:

./ctm_r3_acc_man -list

Produces the following output:

Defined Accounts:
1. SAP
1 accounts found

To list detailed information about user accounts:

Use the following command line to list detailed information about either
a specified account, or a list of accounts in the specified file.

./ctm_r3_acc_man -list <account-names-file> -full

./ctm_r3_acc_man -list SAP -full

To copy a user account:

Use the following command line to copy a user account.

./ctm_r3_acc_man -copy <source account name> <target account name>

All account information is copied to the new account with the specified
name.

For example:

./ctm_r3_acc_man -copy SAP SAP1

Produces the following output:
