Pulse Electroplating of Ni-Mo Alloys On Titanium

Abstract

The pulse electrodeposition of Ni-Mo alloys from chloride solution

with acidic pH was studied. The deposit composition, current efficiency

and partial current density versus cathodic potential were measured as a

function of electrodeposition parameters. At low average current density

and duty cycle, the Mo content of pulse plated alloys increase up to 20.9

wt percent. The electrodeposits were also analysed by SEM and XRD

techniques. The deposit consist of nodular particles that with increase of

average current density and duty cycle, size of them and crack in deposits

also increase. The X-ray diffraction pattern of the alloy deposits revealed

that the alloys were either amorphous or microcrystalline in structure

when Mo content of alloys was high.

Investigation of Hydrogen evolution Reaction on
Electrodeposited Ni-Mo Alloys

Abstract
Nickel-Molybdenum alloys have catalytic effect on hydrogen evolution
reaction. In this research hydrogen evolution reaction rates on Ni-Mo
alloys coatings was investigated. First, Ni-Mo alloys coatings were
produced on titanium substrate by using pulse current. Acidic
solutions with glycolic acid and sodium citrate complexing system
have been used. After electrodeposition of the coatings, the chemical
composition and crystalline structure of the coatings was investigated.
The hydrogen evolution reaction current densities on different
coatings were measured by potentiodynamic polarization. Decrease of
pulse current duty cycle and average density increase Mo content of
the obtained deposit from studied solution. The XRD pattern reveals
that the alloy deposits crystallity decrease with increase of Mo
content. Also it is observed that hydrogen evolution reaction rates
increase when crystallity decrease.

Effective Parameters on Electrical conductivity of Sulfuric
Acid & Copper sulfate Solutions

Abstract
In this research, electrical conductivity of copper sulfate and sulfuric acid
solutions at different temperature were measured. Then one equation for
determining electrical conductivity with respect to the copper sulfate and
the sulfuric acid concentration and temperature was proposed. The
obtained results show the sulfuric acid concentration increase and
temperature increase have direct affect on the conductivity. In solutions
with acid concentration higher than 25 gr/lit, the copper sulfate
concentration increase leads to decrease of electrical conductivity. It
seems that decrease of free water molecules cause this problem.
