Guidelines & Formats for PTU Project Work:


Dear Students,
You would have almost completed the PTU Final Project Work report by now.
To facilitate completion of this most important requirement, please find ready to
use Formats and guidelines once again. You are advised to adhere to them strictly.
Please note the PTU Project Work is a 4 Credit course and carries 200 marks in 4th
Semester during June/ July 2011.
Please note the following guidelines again, in respect of SMU Project Work:
1) You should submit the Report with
a) Each report should be of about 60-100 pages. (i.e. which includes minimum
of about 60 pages of actual report, and 18-20 pages of Certificates / contents /
section title pages, annexures, etc). You may note that PTU guidelines as
given by IIBS holds good , and quality is equally important.
2) It should be processed in MS-word (MS Office 2003 XP, compatible version) with
a) Page layout : Proper page layout has to be done i.e., left margin 1.20”, right-
top-bottom margin of 1”
b) Paper to be used : A-4 page ONLY, printing has to be done on one side of the
paper only
c) Spacing : 1.5 line spacing
d) Font : Times New Roam Font 14 size for Titles/ subtitles, 12 font size for
Text/ Tables/ Graphs).
e) NO Page Border should be used anywhere, but figures / graphs can be in
color or black & white
f) Contents & order of Project Report : Please refer to “Title page format file
for sequence of contents
Cover page - Should be in color
Student Declaration
IIBS Certificate - collect it from Institute
Company Certificate - Include if applicable (should be for min 8
weeks, if you are including it)
Examiner’s Certificate
Acknowledgements
Rest of the contents as per PTU format enclosed
g) Each chapter should start on a fresh page
3) Company letter : If you have done your Project attached with a company, then you
can take it and enclose it. If you are taking it from any company, it must be for
minimum of 6 weeks during January to April 2011
4) Name of the Guides : The internal guide & External Examiner details should be left
blank.
5) No of copies : Three (3) i.e.
a) One to PTU,
b) One to Library,
c) One to yourself (which you will get after Viva, with signature of all
concerned authorities)
6) Type of Binding : Hard bound, Light Pink for the Report (IMP NOTE : No spiral
binding OR other type of binding is acceptable to SMU)
7) Submission of CDs : Two CDs with entire Project Report in a Folder, with your
Name, Specialization and SMU Regn No written on the CD in Black Marker
a) One CD should be pasted on back inner page of PTU Copy with a Plastic
cover & should be easily readable and removable, yet safe
b) One CD should be pasted on back inner page of IIBS Library Copy with a
Plastic cover & should be easily readable and removable, yet safe
8) LAST DATE FOR SUBMISSION: You must submit the Project Report on or
before 15th May 2011 before 6.00pm / as per IIBS Notice
a) Any late submission will NOT be entertained OR you will not be eligible for
Viva in June 2011 session (i.e. you will have re-do it again in January 2012,
after losing 6 months in your career). You are responsible for it.
b) You should submit reports personally by signing in the list provided for it.
c) In case you are already employed and unable to come personally due to some
valid reasons, you can send the 3 reports & 2 CDs through your class mates,
but with an authorization letter/ authorization mail to submit on your behalf.
9) The Viva-voce date will announced in due course & it is likely to be in June 2011, as
per the dates to be announced by PTU / IIBS.
10) Please refer to the attached format of PPT for viva voce examination and you
should keep it ready
