I have to tell you all just
how lucky I really am…
I have 3 moms and love
them all dearly. Here is just a
tiny bit about why…
My mother Pam Kramer of
Ansonia, she is the strongest
woman I know. My mom
has, as most would say, been
through it all. I know for fact
that she did her very best to
raise us 4 kids, (myself, my
brother and my 2 sisters) and
let me tell you, it was not easy.
I can’t imagine as a mother
of 2 myself having 4 at home
and trying to work, make it
to games and practices and
help on the farm. She always
took the time to make each of
us feel special by spending
one-on-one time with us and
having the 4 of us that was
not easy. I love you, mom,
and thank you for being you.

Celebrated ?
In many countries special
prayer services are held in
churches in honor of mothers.
But the most common method
of celebrating Mothers Day is
to treat mothers with break-
fast in bed. Children allow
their mothers to sleep till late
in the morning while they
along with their father juggle
in the kitchen to prepare her
favorite breakfast. Most often
a Mothers Day card and a
bunch of bouquet accompany
the meticulously laid break-
fast. Many children prepare a
card themselves a day before
Mothers Day. Some also make
handmade gifts to show their
respect and affection for their
mother. Grown up children
prefer to buy gifts from the
stores ranging from clothes,
accessories to jewelry.

. . . As Sisters, as Daughters, as Mothers Mother’s Day Concert

As the years have
passed,  Mother’s Day has
taken on a special meaning
for me. Motherhood and the
plight of today’s mothers
are also of special interest
to me. This is true because
of my own personal story
and journey. Being a mother
and a child of adoption
have touched my heart. The
events of my life, the finding
and meeting my birthmother
for the first time in 2006, are
things I will never forget.
They have shined a light on
motherhood and given me
a desire on a deeper level
to look into the lives of
those that have given their
children up for adoption and
especially the experiences
of birthmothers, unwed
mothers and even those that
have chosen abortion. This
deepening desire to learn
more led me to see if there
were any local resources
to assist these women, and
I found the Choosing Life
Pregnancy and Resource
Center, a nonprofit faith
based organization located
at The Celina Church of
God at 850 Fairground Road
in Celina that partners with
the local Mercer County
Right to Life. The Center
just celebrated its second
anniversary on April 6.
It was two years ago
that Pastor Bruce Strine
of the Celina First Church
of God approached the
church secretary Patty
Thees, telling her that the
church was interested in
taking on this service as an
outreach and asking for her
help. Thees agreed, and is
now  the Center’s founder
and director,  and  her
sister-in-law Barb Thees is
secretary-treasurer. Patty
has had many different
avenues of training for this
type of work and is currently
working on becoming a
certified biblical councilor.
this “ministry” as she calls
it. Her passion and love
for this ministry certainly
shined through as we spent
the day chatting and finding
a shared passion for life
and especially the unborn.
Patty stresses, “I am always
available to my clients.”
She is on call 24/7 and is
also available for speaking
engagements.
Clients range from young
girls in need of guidance and
direction to unwed mothers,
fathers, grandparents and
entire families. Girls from the
young age of 15 to women
in their forties can find help
through the Choosing Life
Pregnancy Center. The
Center has a boutique and
a food pantry. The well-
stocked food pantry carries
a wide variety from staples
to frozen and canned foods.
While visiting, I received
the grand tour and met
Billie Hiles  who runs and
works in the boutique. She
was in the middle of folding
what looked like an endless
mountain of clothing. Hiles,
like all others involved with
this ministry, does this work
strictly as a volunteer.
Choosing Life Pregnancy
Center has a nine member
board consisting of Patty
and Barb Thees, Homer
and Carol Burnett, Dixie
Russell, Joyce Albers,
Paulette Strine, Janie
Timmerman and Father
Barry Stechschulte. The
board meets monthly to give
guidance and direction.
The Center  held an open
house recently  and proudly
gave visitors tours of their
boutique and showed them
the recent purchase of
ultrasound equipment. To
show how generous people
are and how devoted to life,
Patty shared that they had
started asking for donations
for the ultrasound machine
in the middle of last October
and were able to purchase
that does the ultrasounds for
them, but they would love
to eventually have a full-
time technician on staff.
They are also looking for a
doctor who would be willing
to read the ultrasounds.
They are outgrowing their
facility and are looking for
some place bigger, as their
clientele (corrected spelling
of clientele) has grown to
over 100!
Donations of all kinds
are always welcome. Items
ranging from soaps and
shampoos to money and
furniture are needed. There is
also a need for Shepherding
Houses, places where people
are willing to open up their
home to a pregnant woman
in need of a temporary place
to live.

pregnancy testing, parenting
