(KNOWLEDGE-BASED COURSEWORK)

PROJECT TASK
A proper and detail preparation for a science lesson is necessary in order to make teaching and learning activity occurs smoothly and effectively. An ability
to translate the latest learning theories which integrate the appropriate teaching and learning strategies will enhance the effectiveness of the learning
experiences planned. However, these scenarios are seldom practiced in schools. Therefore, in this task you are required to carry out a project to prepare
and develop a good and effective lesson plan that can be used and modeled by others. Your task is to:-
A: Acquiring Knowledge
In groups of two
1. Prepare a complete Daily Lesson Plan (DLP) for one topic /subtopic of your choice from Curriculum Specification for Science Year 1 – 6.
Your lesson should be an hour ( 2 periods times ) teaching plan.

B: Mastering Knowledge and Skill

2. Before you come out with a proper DLP you should consider/take into account an elaborate the following aspects which underlie the DLP you are going to design:
i. Underlying learning theory which you are going to use .
ii. Appropriate selection of teaching and learning strategies.
iii. Relevant scientific skills, thinking skills & ICT skills.
iv. Effective and meaningful teaching aid materials.
v. Effective assessment tools in the closure/reflection phase.

significance. For aspect iii & iv, supply appropriate evidence.

3. Your DLP should be in the form of 5-phase Constructivist Model (Needham) or 5-E’s Learning Cycle Model.

C: Transferring of Learning
4. Try out your DLP in macro-teaching ( weightage 10% )
5. Reflect on the teaching conducted and make amendments to your DLP after discussing with your supervisor. Your project must be completed by/before the end of
week 18 in Semester 1.
6. Using the final amendment DLP as a model, make a comparison to your DLP which was used during practicum in school. Give your comments and
recommendations by referring to the aspects mentioned in ( 2 ) .

D: Attitude and Personality

Individually,
7. Submit your task in the form of project reports in one folio.
8. Your folio should consist of :
i. Action plan- elaboration of aspects in ( 2 ) and your planning.
ii. Lesson support materials and evidence
iii. Lesson plan - before macro-teaching & after macro-teaching.
iv. Reflection of the effectiveness of the lesson conducted during macro-teaching.
v. A sample of DLP during practicum and your comment and recommendation
vi. List of your references /bibliography

Record of collaborative activities. Before and during the process of the project, you are required to discuss with your lecturer.
You are required to submit this coursework project to your lecturer on or before 20 Mei 2011
