Credit Hours 03 Semester Fall, 2010
To enable the students to:
Course
(i) listen critically, consciously and conscientiously;
Objectives
(ii) speak meaningfully, effectively and successfully;
(iii) think critically before and during speaking and writing;
(iv) read critically and consciously;
(v) write concisely, consciously and purposefully.
(vi) listen, speak, read, write, and think in English;
exhibit successful presentational and skills not only in their speaking and writing
but in their whole being and doing.

• Listening to English programmes: music, talk shows on radio,
internet, television
Suggested Activities
• Watching English movies and the plays (preferably the classic,
Shakespearean)
• Reading English newspapers (in print or online) everyday
• Reading short stories/ books (English) at bed-time
• Speaking to friends/classmates/teachers/families in English

Class Policy 1. A student must reach the class-rooms in time. Late comers may join the
class but are not entitled to be marked “present”.
2. Attendance shall be marked at the start of the class and students failing
to secure 75% attendance will not be allowed to sit in the final exam.
3. The assignment submission dead-line must be observed. In case of late
submission, ten percent (10%) may be deducted for each day.
4. Those who are absent on the announcement date of the assignment/test,
must get the topic/chapter of the test/assignment confirmed through their
peers.
5. Mobile phones must be switched-off in the class-rooms.
