Last year it was the pleasure of the Hi-Yu to pay its respects to the Hawaiian Islands with its "Hi-Yu Hawaii theme, in recognition of the campaign for the islands to become a new state in the Union This year the Hi-Yu goos north with its “Hi-Yu Alaska” theme, again paying homage to a territory which desires its rightful place among the Union of states. It is particularly fitting that we honor Alaska, as West Seattle is the last port of call for ships moving to the North Land. Carrying out the Alaskan theme, our printing and signs have depicted the Alaskan flag, the map of Alaska, native scenes, etc. Our committee members are wearing dungarees and plaid shirts, with the "Alaskan Gambler" derbies and sunbonnets for the gals; totem pole ties and searves are also part of tho off The opening event of the Hi-Yu July 19, at 7:30 p.m. at the West Si 6:15 p.m. to 8:00 p. Lincoln Park on Sunday, July 25. In between these two events are 27 other atractions, which the committees hope you and your famiiles will find real enjoyment during "Hi-Yu Alaska" week in West Seattle.
