mission Fundamentals. What is Grid? How Grid is
formed. What is fault level and its significance.
What are different types of fault? Symmetrical and
Asymmetrical Faults. Switchgear and its associ-
ated components. Different types of protections
and their applicability. Components of Power Sys-
tem Protection. International Standards and their
significance. Single Line Diagram and its signifi-
cance.
C ourse Objectives
Upon completion of this course the participant will
be able to:
• Understand substation and electrical power
system equipments and components
• Have knowledge on switchgears including iso-
lators, circuit breakers etc.
• Learn various aspects of Power System Protec-
tion and its components
• Design Power Protection Systems
• Have the applicability and selection process of
each type of protection

Mr. Dilip Kale
The faculty for this course, Mr. Dilip Kale has done his graduation in Electrical Engineering,
post graduate degree in Business Management and post graduate diploma in Computer
Management from premium institutions in India. All academic qualifications were passed
with honors.
Design of Protection System

During his professional career spanning 36 years, Mr. Kale has worked extensively in the
areas of construction of transmission lines, operation and maintenance of EHV sub-stations
and in Information Technology section.

He has worked in erstwhile Maharashtra State Electricity Board in various responsible capacities & retired
as Dy. General Manager from Pune.
Mr. Dilip Kale has worked as faculty for various Training Courses of the Utility for which he was working as
well as in Yashada a premium Training Institute of Government of Maharashtra, India. After retirement form
the Utility, he is currently working as Principle Electrical Consultant with a Corporate Body in Pune.

Payments to be made in advance. Exact venue of the
