Q: What do the world and the two raised fingers with gold rings on the statue of the Infant of Prague mean?

St. Michael’s Parish celebrated his annual Graduation Mass last Sunday May 15th, 2011. Fr. Sam with the help of Fr. Damian, Fr.
Edward, a visitor Priest, Deacon Foster and Deacon Marchek celebrated a beautiful ceremony in honor of St. Michael’s graduates.
At the end of the mass, Deacon Foster called each of the graduates to the altar, and read their graduation details. Fr. Sam reminded
the graduates the importance of keeping God in their lives as they begin their new journey. He concluded with a beautiful prayer to
the graduates, and gave them his special blessing. The following are some of the photos that Mr. Jun David kindly took at the
Graduation Mass celebrated last weekend. “Thank you very much for your kindness, Mr. David. ” Also, we would like to thank
Mrs. Laura Pizzi that gently helped out with the decoration, set up and clean up. “Thank you Laura for all your help!” Thank God
for Volunteers like Mr. David and Mrs. Pizzi! “The entire congregation appreciates your talent and time. God Bless. “

LITURGICAL LIFE
Weekend Masses
Saturday 17:00
Sunday 08:30 & 10:00
A Bible study on the book of Timothy
The book of 1 Timothy was written by the Apostle Paul to Timothy, a son in Christ and fellow church leader. Biblical Daily Mass
scholars suggest that Paul visited the church in Ephesus shortly after his first Roman imprisonment. Upon his departure, Mon, Wed, Thurs. 11:30
he placed Timothy in charge. His first letter to Timothy was to encourage him in his ministry, and provide instructions on Mon-Friday DDEAMC 11:45
the spiritual and practical qualifications of church leadership.
Penance/ Reconciliation
Saturday 16:00
Paul's letter begins with a reminder that there is no other doctrine than what had been preached by the apostles. There
Sunday 08:15
were some individuals in Ephesus that began infiltrating the church with false doctrines, and who incited arguments

regarding genealogies. These were not bringing unity or edification to the church, which is GOd's primary desire for the
believers. There was to be no place for divisions among His people.
Rosary
Saturday 16:30
Paul instructed Timothy to pray for all men, leaders included. Christ gave His life as a ransom for all, and it is only fitting
Sunday 08:00
that prayer and intercession be made for all believers, especially those in leadership. Paul also instructed that the men in
the church pray, lifting their hands toward heaven in surrender to God. Women were to present themselves modestly, not Communion (Sick/Homebound):
drawing attention to themselves with expensive clothing or flashy jewelry. Rather, they were to maintain a spirit of quiet Deacon George Foster
humility, learning the ways of God in submission. After these, Paul moved into the qualifications of church leadership.
Weddings
The key qualification for both bishops, spiritual overseers, deacons or administrative overseers is that they have their Deacon George Foster
home life in order. Also, they must be the husband of only one wife. Their wives and their children must be reverent and
in submission. They must not be driven to alcohol, greed, violence, and the like. Those who fill the roles of bishop and Baptisms
deacon are to be examples to the believers in the church. Personal integrity is a greater responsibility for those who desire Deacon Mike Marchek
to be a leader. And only those who have proven themselves faithful over time are to be selected for such a role.
Liturgy
Paul concluded his letter to Timothy with additional practical instructions. First, he exhorted Timothy to not let his youth- Deacon David Kriegel
fulness be a reason to doubt his ability to lead. Rather, he was to maintain his spirit of excellence and continue to be an
example in both word and deed. He also was to meditate on the Word of God, as well as the things that were spoken over Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
him by the laying on of hands of the eldership. Paul commanded him to not stray from those things, or from the doctrinal (RCIA)
teachings. In so doing, he would not only preserve himself but those who heard him. Deacon Mike Marchek
