WELCOME TO CICS

CICS (Customer Information Control System) is a software package designed by IBM to allow
computerized storage and retrieval of information. A great deal of the information stored in
CICS is confidential and access to this information is restricted through the use of USERIDS and
PASSWORDS. Each PASSWORD is confidential and should be known only by the individual
whose name is registered on the request form as the Operator Name.

For everyone’s protection, we strongly recommend that no one share the use of their USERID
and PASSWORD with any other individual. The person who owns the USERID will be held
responsible for any unauthorized modifications to data made by the USERID. They will also be
held accountable for the dissemination of any confidential information obtained by that USERID.

Never leave a terminal unattended. When leaving the area, sign off from CICS. This will protect
your USERID from unauthorized use in your absence.

CICS access is automatically revoked for any employee transferring to another University
department or terminating employment with the University.

Requests for access to Student Records must be processed through the Office of Admissions and
Records. Requests for access to Advantage must be processed through Financial Support
Services. Student financial information requests must be processed through the Office of the
Bursar.
