JOURNALS

December 1, 2010
My students in fourth year are amazed when I teach them on how to convert radian
measure into degree measure and vice versa using scientific calculator.
After our class, we, the practice teachers told us to redecorate and reconstruct the
organizational chart of Mathematics Department of our cooperating school.
December 3, 2010
I was so happy when I give prizes for my IV – Rizal students because of my first quiz
with them. I gave 17 Chupachups for the students who got perfect score.
December 6, 2010
Mrs. Daelo absolutely gave me the copy of Philippine Secondary School Learning
Competencies (PSSLC) for fourth year level.
December 7, 2010
I asked my mentor if I may observe her teaching tomorrow in order to answer my
assignment. She said Yes and she told me that she will going to prepare the lesson and she will
going to show her best teaching.
December 8, 2010
I have fun with my last section, the IV – Burgos. But before of that, I have observed Mrs.
Daelo’s teaching in II – Narra, her advisory class. As I observed, she is great. She is a master
teacher. She executed the lesson well and she followed her prepared lesson, she used her laptop
as her motivation.
I don’t find any difficulties on her teaching because all of her students are actively
participating during her class discussion.
December 9, 2010
There is a big difference between IV – Bonifacio and IV – Rizal. In IV – Bonifacio, when
I asked them if they understand the lesson, they said “YES” and when I asked them if they have
any questions or any doubt about the lesson, they said, “NONE SIR”. Unlike in IV – Rizal, once
they have doubt about the lesson, they immediately raised their hands and asked me questions.
December 10, 2010
Its shortened period so I did something meaningful. Instead of discussing a new topic, I
gave quiz in IV – Bonifacio, continuation of activity for IV – Rizal, and gave some math teasers
in IV – Burgos.
December 13, 2010
It’s my first time handle the II – Narra, so I gave them a seatwork. We also wore our new
uniform for practice teaching and Mrs. Olbida, the head of Mathematics Department, was so
amazed.
December 15, 2010
I was unable to deliberate my lesson because all of them are so excited for their
Christmas Party.
I lend my time to PHS Chorale, as requested by Mrs. Olbida, to have practice for the
incoming Math month.
December 16, 2010
After the student’s Christmas party, my co-interns and other Math teachers did have our
practice for tomorrow’s presentation.
December 17, 2010
Today is the day of our presentation and most of my students in IV – Rizal are there to
give support for their team.
After of all the presentation, Mr. Cena, finally chose the winner. The undefeatable
Department of Mathematics won the first prize for the event.
As a practice teacher, it was my pleasure to be a part of the team. It was a wonderful
experience for us.
January 3, 2010
My students greeted me with a smile and saw my new hairstyle.
January 4, 2010
Finally, I was so happy because I implemented my lesson good from the initiatory
activities up to assignment.
January 5, 2010
My students are actively participating during our class activity. As I observed them, they
are enjoying learning new concept.
PRAYER OF STUDENT TEACHER

Heavenly God, You are welcome to enter in our life. Enlighten us to subtract our

everyday sins, differentiate our weaknesses and integrate this to our strengths. Multiply it to the

highest exponent of knowledge and divide it equally through partitions to attain different

functions.

Because of Your axioms, geometrical shapes of our life develop and still continuously

improving by progression. Series of regressions comes but you limit yourself to help. You let us

to find the probability of theorems that calculate hindrances of our life.

Thank You, God, for giving us the opportunity to research your life and everyone. God

bless us!
WHAT IS TEACHING IN MY OPINION?

Teaching is a profession that encouraging students to make connections between their

real – life experiences and the subject being studied.

The innovation of teaching provides hands – on activities that really help the students to

realize the facts and concepts or ideas on what they have realizing inside the classroom.

Active Learning and Cooperative Learning are the two methods and approaches that best

fitted and suited in teaching Mathematics. As I found out, most students prefer to have hands –

on activities like games, group activities, and board work so that they will experience the real

learning of the topic.

By this, you are not teaching to the students to memorize the facts or concepts but you let

them to truly understand the real concepts.
